They could if the daeva let them, but not by default.

Huh...

...What would happen if a daeva were to decide that they wanted the planet they were on to be part of their body?

Perhaps there is a size limit.

Perhaps there is a size limit on stuff-you-didn't-make-yourself.

Perhaps they can do that just fine with a planet they made, but on Earth the rest of humanity unconsciously opposes it (via something that would be classified as a parlor trick if anyone knew about it).

A stuff-you-didn't-make limit would not work for fairies, though. They don't make things. A size limit is... possible but seems unaesthetic. And it's nearly as much of a problem from a worldbuilding standpoint if a daeva can decide that Venus is part of their body as if they decide Earth is.

Maybe you can, and that's why the enormous plane of gold doesn't collapse under its own gravity. It's actually just a thick layer of gold over some gold that is also a daeva.

That’s always been my theory, since I learned that daeva can do something even similar to that.

I’d go with daeva not being able to become Venus because Venus isn’t really attached to them. That wouldn’t work for one swimming in Europa, though.

Maybe there's a speed limit, so it would take a long time for them to bodyclaim an entire planet?

eta: Or maybe it has to follow something like the One Step Rule, where in order to bodyclaim something, it has to be something that you could move by moving your existing body? (fairy magic doesn't count (edit2: it counts if you only use the magic directly on your existing body, and the new bodystuff merely comes along due to ordinary physics.))

One of the things would happen is the daeva getting tired of hearing "can be seen from space" jokes.

Does a daeva summoned by an Elcenian Dragon get Draconic?
