You mean that Aril offered to fix the trag straightness? I actually don't quite get why Shara reacted so badly to the offer. Plus, I don't think Aril would mind.

Exalted is the kind of setting where mind-controlling random peasants, but compensating them for it, is among the nicest things you could be doing. (An important note is that Creation doesn't really have the same sex rules as Earth - it's a much more casual thing. It'd be more like mind-controlling people to dance for your amusement, on the continuum of such things.)

Also, Solars are kind of contractually obligated to be awful people in at least one way. It's a thing.

Just because it's a Thing doesn't mean a Miles can't get out of it. Conversely, just because it doesn't apply to a Miles doesn't mean it's not a Thing.
