Re: Worlds you want to glowfic
from here:
I think the thing I probably most want to see/do is Thanjen in Terraria. (Speaking of how things do and do not work. XD)Unbitwise wrote:I figure once I've gotten through the teaching part of this one (to help spot any holes in my worldbuilding before I'm stuck with them), I'll be up for other threads. Dropping Thanjen in assorted worlds is most certainly a possibility. (I have one other defined-enough-to-go-on character, but she's less suited for adventure and will probably find the MWF first if she doesn't appear in this sandbox.)
Re: Worlds you want to glowfic
Thanjen will go along with this if Sable promises to share her interworld transport spell, if something equivalent doesn't happen first. Even the version that doesn't go where it's supposed to. Because the fate of being permanently stuck in an endlessly repeating world with only one other known live person is pretty hellish.
On the upside (for the characters, at least), if kored* works to its full extent, bring on the abuse of video game mechanics.
(* not quite being used correctly here; I need to invent a more abstract-concept word.)
Thanjen would also like to note that the idea of a difference between melee and ranged combat is silly.

Re: Worlds you want to glowfic
Hahahahaha.
I mean, there actually is an important difference between melee and ranged weapons in Terraria, but it's not the one it seems like. As near as I can figure (and I've had Sivath explain it this way in Skylight Empire), "melee weapon" in Terraria refers to weapons that do not expend a resource when used; "ranged weapon" refers to weapons that use ammunition; "magic weapon" refers to weapons that use mana; and "summon weapon" refers to a technical subcategory of magic weapons. (There are also "consumable weapons" that essentially use themselves as ammunition, but they're largely useless under most circumstances and kind of annoying to keep stocked.)
Sable would absolutely share her interworld transport spell when she comes up with one. I could also provide a Terraria in which multiple purple characters have landed near one another and not died! XD

Re: Worlds you want to glowfic
This seems to be mostly true, but I can think of at least one counterexample off the top of my head: the Harpoon doesn't consume any resources, but is still officially a ranged weapon.Kappa wrote:As near as I can figure (and I've had Sivath explain it this way in Skylight Empire), "melee weapon" in Terraria refers to weapons that do not expend a resource when used; "ranged weapon" refers to weapons that use ammunition; "magic weapon" refers to weapons that use mana; and "summon weapon" refers to a technical subcategory of magic weapons. Re: Worlds you want to glowfic
Interesting! Yeah, then the category boundaries really seem kind of arbitrary.
Re: Worlds you want to glowfic
I've done one-and-a-half* sandbox threads and I'm itching for more! Anyone want to play with Thanjen or his world (or other as-yet-less-well-defined characters)?
Anyones I'd particularly like to hear from include Aestrix, AndaisQ, and Eva.
* ridiculous overpoweredness is a Terrarian quirk chosen because it was amusing, and entirely optional under other conditions
