For a while I would intentionally send my wounds up whenever they were even a little bit high, because there's a quality tracking how much you've played chess with Death and it seemed awesome to have it go way up.

Did it give you fabulous prizes? That tends to happen when your menaces go way up? (Also, Nightmares 5 is only about 2/5 of the way to Nightmares 8.)

It gave me an Intriguing Snippet. I was looking down a well, I actually expected to find Timmy or Lassie or something. But nope, Intriguing Snippet and a jump in Nightmares.

You can get a shiv if you get sent to jail, which is a useful weapon, especially in the beginning.
I also have purposely let my wounds up to play chess with death! I don't know if it leads to anything, but I want to see

I have let my wounds go up to 8 a couple of times just because it was faster then getting them down.
