Can someone tell me where I can get a bunch of souls?

You can buy them from the bazaar. I think they're 0.02 a piece, so if you sold 200 glim, rotsy gold, hints ect. you could buy 100 souls.
There aren't many actions that give you souls directly unless you buy the soul trade expansion.

Sometimes there is an opportunity card that gives you a chance to steal some souls. They are usually about 20-30.

I got rid of all my Nightmares! I used my Profession Perks to cut them in half, well I had to do it twice. But you mentioned having trouble witth them too, have you tried this?

My nightmares have gotten up to 8 several times. It actually opens up an interesting setting (which you are stuck in for 30 ish moves usually) and there shouldn't be any permanent consequences.
Actually, I've gotten nightmares, scandal, wounds, and suspicion up to 8 at some point :/
