It is cute but what I most love about it is the ethos of "go home? ahahahaha why would we do that? the only thing worth going home for can just come here instead."

That is a better ending than the traditional “let’s just go back to Kansas” one.
Completely coincidentally, I was re-reading the Pokésection of Effulgence today, where Bella talks about how she didn’t like the original ending to a book about a pokémon who wanted to fly but couldn’t ever evolve it.
