I only thought of the ending after I had written the first few sentences, so yes they don't match that well mood wise. I considered to rewrite it but was afraid that if I delayed to much before publishing it I would get second thoughts. Also the bit about Gretel's brother wasn't strictly necessary, I guess I'm just a sucker for implied awfulness.
