Ask The Alethiometer!

If it's germane, yet doesn't fit into another category, it can go here.

Daemon simplicity nature Dust daemon magic life watchfulness me

Daemons are a natural phenomenon of how Dust works, but that is kind of like a magical form of life from my perspective?

That's a pretty good guess, and it's also sort of true! XD But not quite. You got daemons, Dust, and magic right.

Nope. XD

"Mortals" is sort of vaguely in the right ballpark for the baby, but it's not the exact right meaning.

Daemon sacrifice wisdom Dust daemon magic firmness courage humans

... getting a daemon is considered by the wise to have trade-offs, but it makes you braver? I'm just throwing symbol interpretations at the wall to see what sticks.

Yeah, you're getting colder. XD

Hints:

- The meaning for griffin is obscure and non-canonical
- The meaning for bread is also non-canonical but I think it's slightly less obscure
- Crucible is about like bread in that way
- Tree I think is more like griffin wrt obscurity
- Baby is fairly simple, you've gotten close-enough-for-government-work twice now
- None of those five are meanings you've seen me use before

Daemon corporeality necessity experience dust daemon magic growth corporeality people

But having an external daemon isn't necessary to grow as a person! Which symbols am I screwing up?

Bread/Corporeality: Right ballpark
Necessity, experience: There are two of these and only one crucible. What went wrong? Regardless, neither is correct.
Tree/Growth: Nope
Griffin/Corporeality: Nope. I try to make the same symbols refer only to the same meanings and the same meanings be expressed with only the same symbols in a single answer. Or did you accidentally an extra griffin back there?

I thought I saw a griffin between the bird and the bread.

Daemon existence creation Dust daemon magic reality subjectivity person

Daemons create Dust (whether internal or external), but if that's magic is up for debate even if you've got an alethiometer handy?
