Fortunomancer: ...and that is the story of how I ran away from home as an adolescent in order to become a member of an organization which I had, until that point, romanticized to an excessive degree.

Cara: I've been there. Coming to terms with reality isn't fun, is it?

Fortunomancer: Actually, while it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, this particular organization is undoubtedly a global force for good. Besides, I'm in the perfect position to prevent corruption, given that my intelligence and magical prowess have earned me a high-status leadership position.

Cara: ...how's your personal life?

Fortunomancer: While I confess that most of my time is spent focusing on my work and intellectual pursuits, I have managed to maintain a number of close friendships with like-minded people.

Cara: I have never in my life hated anyone more than I hate you right now.

Fortunomancer: Does this mean that you would be opposed to setting up some sort of magic book exchange?

Cara: *sighs* No, I definitely want your books.

Celo: "Literal divine edict forbids me from wearing clothes. I can go away if you want."

Zinc: "…I'm not even gonna… yeah that's probably the way to go here."

Rayne: "Oh, yeah, absolutely. I can get you a line to the demon Anyanka, very appropriate to your situation, she just wouldn't help me on account of I'm a man."

Hallai: "What a weird client selection filter. Is there anyone you'd like set on fire or empathically blasted, quid pro quo, or is that not the sort of thing that will help?"

Rayne: "Well, not with _this_, but I'll keep it in mind for future occasions, yeah?"

Hallai: "Sure, if this works I'll owe you one."

Rayne: "Here, let me just jot down Anyanka's summoning ritual for you..."

Matilda: [puzzles over this for a bit] "...I'm not sure that's the same sort of thing, exactly. If you don't read books the same way I would but you do something else with them instead, you could just say."

Unnael: "I do not take actions with respect to books."

Matilda: "Hmm. Do you - be things with them, then?"

Unnael: "It is not the most readily explained phenomenon."

Matilda: "Those are usually the most interesting kinds."

Unnael: "But as befits a goddess of written record, I typically do not explain it in conversation."

Matilda: "...Are there books about you? Can I read them?"

Unnael: "There are, and you may."

Matilda: :D!
