Dæmons

If it's germane, yet doesn't fit into another category, it can go here.

Dæmons

Post by Anya »

What do you think your dæmon would settle as?

I've always thought mine would be some sort of large bear. Maybe even a Polar Bear, though that's only because my last name is Snow. :P

But yeah, definetly a bear.

I have given extensive thought to this and mostly I have no idea. I have considered possibilities ranging from "squirrel" through "dragon".

I've always had trouble with this sort of question because I don't really have a strong affiliation with any animals. If my daemon could be a tree, it would be something spreading and climbable, like an oak or a magnolia. As animal... I really don't know. I like cats, and I'm maybe catlike in some ways, but I'm not really sure that deep down in my soul I feel like a cat? I think it would probably be something smallish (nothing I couldn't carry). I can say plenty of animals it wouldn't be - it wouldn't be a dog, it wouldn't be a horse, it wouldn't be an eagle. It might be a rat or a pig or a sparrow or who knows what.

If I were to be daemoned right here and now, I'd probably end up with a cuckoo or some form of mimic bird, due to my kind of creepily mutable personality. As for if I had a daemon from birth, I think having part of my soul hanging around physically in a cuddles-and-better-judgment capacity for the first 13 or so years of my life would probably fix enough of my brain-problems that I have next to no idea what Counterfactual Daemoned Joe would actually be like. I hope he'd end up with some mid-sized-to-large mammal, for hugging purposes. Maybe a pony, or a thylacine.

I'd probably get a cat of some kind. Maybe a housecat, maybe a lynx, possibly a big cat but probably not. Best guess would be felis sylvestris; all the proud/fickle/semi-friendly connotations of a cat, but with a sharper edge to it.

Given what I was like around settling age, I'm pretty sure I would be a dragon. Because I was obsessed with dragons, and extremely strange. I am less of both those things today but I'd still fit a dragon daemon.

My daemon would not settle. Or it might semi-settle into a small range of things. Here are some of the things it would be:

I dunno, maybe a housecat, or perhaps a porcupine?

I think you're too cuddly to have a porcuipine.

Only with people I like! I am very anti-cuddly with people I don't like.
