I was just wishing there would be more Myth. Lumos, despite not being Myth and not even having the part I was thinking about (Gianna), is still good.

After rereading the last thread of Myth, though, I got curious. The age of consent in Canada is 16, and in 2005 (when I believe this is set) it was 14, and in either case there are close-in-age exceptions. In California it is 18 and the close-in-age exception only makes it a misdemeanor for both of them instead of a potential felony for just one (apparently they are not legally capable of consent but simultaneously are responsible for the actions they are not capable of consenting to). If May and Isabella want to do anything before September which the law might care about, it would be better for them to do it in with Isabella visiting May instead of vice versa.

Yay! People enjoying my writing is a good way to encourage me to write <3 Sorry about Myth, I have this anti-plot aura Alicorn likes to tease me about that's eating Myth and Sunday xD

Alicorn and I had a whole discussion about the consent thing at the time! Won't dump the whole chatramble, but I believe my excuse at the time was:
yeah, I didn't feel like looking up 'canadian age of consent in whatever province in 2005' when there was equally no reason for Vivian to have looked up same in advance

"Silverlight, however, is glowering at him like she suspects he may be a Dementor in disguise."

That is not a glower you want to receive. We know what she does with Dementors.

She casts patroni at them, which… would probably be a pretty good thing to happen to this human reporter.

I’m now wondering how one could even try to disguise a Dementor without Tab’s inside-out shield involved.

Finally catching up on Lumos and oh no this whole Karen and Vivian thing is hitting my Feels Buttons, I want to hug these poor children.

Okay, so by my count we have now reached three Evil Reporter incidents in Alicorn!Fic (the one who bothers Rhysel in Summons, the one who harasses Dao in Effulgence, and the one just now in Lumos), and it's beginning to seem like a pattern of generalized hostility to the profession. ;) Is there some RL backstory I should be aware of?

I like Russel Peasegood. He’s completely detestable, but in a way that I could see myself as his friend if I could ignore the detestable stuff. This is not true of all antagonists; I don’t think I could be friends with Jane, for example, even if she didn’t have the pain of turning to fling at people.

Preview edit: Again, I emphasize that I dislike his behavior. I just think I could like him as a person if he weren’t an evil reporter.

I've never been interesting enough to be reported on, but I'm pretty glad of this; I know some people who've had hatchet jobs done on them.

Chi and Bao's treatment of the reporter in Spirit (like the treatment of the lawyer in Eos, which I think got mentioned a few days ago?) is something that always bothers me on a re-read. Like, I totally get where they're coming from, and I see why they'd be hostile, but he really is just doing his job and they seem to lack any empathy for him as a person whatsoever.

I didn’t re-read the reporter scene in Spirit, and I don’t remember being bothered by it. I was bothered by the lawyer scene in Effulgence, even the first time, primarily because the lawyer didn’t do anything wrong (at least not yet) and that seems like an excessive amount of bad luck.

I mentioned the lawyer scene a while ago in Talk To Effulgence Characters because the lawyer, after having failed to prepare for the case properly through no fault of his own, should have stepped down and let somebody, anybody else handle the case.

I hope to re-read Spirit threads again today or tomorrow and I’ll keep a lookout for the reporter scene.
