Storium

Has anyone else tried Storium? I just recently made an account and would be interested in trying it out with people.

There is no obvious explanation of what it is on that page; describe?

Oh! Sorry! I see the logged-in page and just assumed the not-logged-in page would have useful information. Their Kickstarter page might be more informative, but, well, to give my understanding, it's a collaborative roleplaying/storytelling game that is a bit more structured than freeform forum roleplaying but less so than a tabletop game? There is a narrator who designs the setting and plays NPCs and such, and a number of players who have characters, and you play by writing scenes, and there's a sort of card system to determine who has narrative control over the outcome of a challenge. It's still in beta-test but it seems potentially neat.

ETA: It might be relevant for people to know that since I have a membership, I can invite people to join games I'm narrating whether or not the already have an account. You have back the Kickstarter to get a full membership and be able to narrate a game, but not to play in one. I'm setting up a game with some friends of mine where I'm the narrator, but if there was someone here interested in narrating I'd like to try it as a player as well. Or maaaaaybe I could be persuaded to run two games at once but that's unlikely.

This sounds interesting! I'm interested. But I'm not gonna back the Kickstarter for the chance to try it out.

I read somewhere on there that you will be able to be in three games for free and for more than that you will have to pay the subscription fee.

If I weren't in the middle of thesis crunch, I might just clone the setting for my other game and run one with people here. I was inspired to make it by an article I read about Kim Jong-un attending school in Switzerland under an assumed name. So if anyone is interested in creating characters who are future world leaders attending an Eton-esque boarding school under assumed names, and then waiting until like June at the earliest to play, that's a possibility :P

It is just me or "Storium" sounds like a made up minerium that can only be found from meteors? Cool concept either way, not sure if I want to try...
Sorry for my bad english
