Short Stories Mafia Game Thread

Not the kind with cardstock and pawns. Mostly play by post Mafia so far.

I approve of people enumerating their suspicions, or at least giving rankings like I try to. Even if scum sheep our reads and try to push bandwagons against Townies, it's still *information to work with* which is better than everyone lurking and going off of nothing. I agree that right now I would prefer to lynch Paradox over BSS. I am considering revoting for him before time runs out.

PS: thank you for the countdown, Paradox, that makes me feel less rushed to make a decision.

I shall also jump on the illegal writing analysis wagon, and verify that my role PM is "{name}{TOWN}{description}" with no blank lines, like all other town seen so far(Yadal was slightly different). Paradox is mafia and evidently didn't ask any of her coscum for a safeclaim to work off of.

Vote Paradox

I'm *slightly* less suspicious of Eva due to her being the first person to match my formatting. Again, that's probably a very weak basis. And I guess the style analysis might be becoming annoying, so I'll try and drop it.

Eva, your role doesn't seem very likely to be a miller to me. Unless you were specifically told that in your PM, I'd be surprised if it were true. (That said, I'm going to be very suspicious if an investigation *does* reveal you to be scum).

And what seems suspicious about all this to you, Tamien? The certainty of accusations trips minor alarm bells for me, but claiming they're backed up by powers seems like a really risky move for scum to make. I'm really curious why/what you think Is Up.
Honestly, I would probably be more surprised by being told I was a miller outright? On MSPA that sort of thing was usually hidden from the player who was a miller, save for hints in their rolePM. This is also part of the reason I am eyeballing Paradox now, aside from the formatting issues.

And now there is a scary possibility for that that I did not think of, namely what Pistachi0n said:
pistachi0n wrote:By secret I mean even you don't know about it. Or that your win condition could change if some designated event happens.
So yeah now I am really unsure, and people should probably not assume I'm a miller until Pistachi0n has a change to check.
Whatever I am is probably describable as 'vanilla town with a twist of lime'? :P

Quick question to people who have not played Mafia on Alicornutopia before: have you read the post mortem threads for the previous two Mafia games? If not, I would recommend doing so, that way you'll have a better idea of what powers/Mafia setups have been used in the past and speculation will be easier.

I have not, I sort of just assumed that mafia here was played similarly to the previous games I had played elsewhere.

... That was probably a dumb assumption. I will go look into those threads.

... There was more than one previous mafia game? Was there another one that was not Elcenia that I'm missing?

And so far there appear to be no millers! I am actually surprised by this.

No millers, just a traitor.

Anyway, I'm baselessly suspicious of several people from how they talked over the last couple pages, but I need to poke at that more. I think Paradox is likely to be mafia and claiming lies. Thus,

vote Paradox.

On the other hand: based on the formatting of my PM and how spaces are added to it, it's very likely that they have some extra power; that would mean that their PM was broken across lines, which Yadal's was not and mine was. This doesn't necessarily change anything, but it does up the stakes.

Oh, and I just noticed that the last comment I made never went through. In response to epsilon's question a while back: no, I don't have cultpowers either. Or anything I'd consider 'aggressive'/'dangerous'. I suspect I do have some passive weirdness, and there's a chance the act of revealing it unredacted would have direct game effects even apart from fairies.
