I wanted pizza independently and didn't get it, then read the thread.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Is there a general reason for Milliways to fail to translate Cath, or was that a specific mechanic for the one Lurking sandbox?

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Cats resist translation.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
I’d expect Milliways to beat that, but maybe it isn’t trying very hard for the general translation effect. Would I be right to think that Bar can still understand her perfectly?
How much resistance to translation do cats have? Could Brilliance or other Devices understand Glass’s Cricket? What about Names-style fairies? I don’t think any other Effulgence characters are panlinguistic (except Bar, who I asked about already, and the Admin, who can obviously understand Cricket no matter how resistant to translation cats are), but could the others wish it up? Would it still cost only a pentagon? Do any of the various nonhuman characters (e.g. Liselen, dæmons, superluminaries, Equestrians) get the automatic cat understanding that comes from being an animal (like Chronicle dragons do)?

Re: Sandbox Discussions
I think we'd decide that on a case-by-case basis. It's not just a language of its own, though; cats understand what language(s) they grow up around normally, and witches can understand their own cats but not others' cats. I think I might allow ponies and unicorns but not critters or daemons if it were solely up to me.

These posts don't seem to be indexed:Alicorn wrote:Recently noticed that I hadn't indexed a post. This has probably happened more than once. Anybody inclined to spot-check would earn my gratitude.
damn pretty vampires
aeternum vale (part of Sunday)
Also:
Isabella summons Demon Cam is indexed but not linked at the top of the post like the other Demon Cam threads are. (this thread is not indexed explicitly, but it's MWF continuity so that might be intentional)
All of the Holly/Crystal threads are indexed, but they're not linked at the top of the post like the other multithreaded posts.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Thanks! I'm not actually sure if I'm supposed to index aeternum vale yet since there's nothing under it but I guess it can't hurt. I shall properly tree those threads.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
I’m not sure whether to be glad of Alicorn in Radon Absinthe or not. On the one hand, multiperson glowfics are extremely underexplored and I think it could turn out well. On the other, Resplendence had an update frequency problem and Radon Absinthe has already been on hiatus.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
I'm seldom if ever the limiting factor.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
Alicorn is probably the least limiting factor possible in a system containing both Kappa and myself. If anything she causes us to pick up the pace as we scramble to keep up with her inexorable steam-engine brain.
