Why did you unvote Paradox?
Because I said this last night:
I note that neither Paradox nor wolffreak have posted yet. Both of them have their Last Visited fields in their profile blank, so I can't tell if either has logged in since the game started. I will vote Paradox for now to encourage a delurk, and will switch to wolffreak after that happens.
Wolffreak and Paradox have now both delurked, as desired.

If your True Name is Aro (chosen for being in the out-of-scope Flashes), you can say “I’m a total cop for one person per night and anybody who targets me”. That doesn’t give away your True Name while still giving away most or all the game-relevant information you want to give away.
True, but claims without names will be harder to counterclaim if false and will thus be less convincing.

me too. I’m treating this like TvT for now (town vs town). I think you may have just misunderstood each other.
@modrony: there are some claims that are unlikely to coexist with other claims. For example if there were two doctors that would be broken because they could just protect each other every night until they win the game.
Don't these games historically have a large concentration of independent killers and power blockers and such? I'm not sure a doctor counterclaiming would actually prolong their lifespan, unless they were also under suspicion(in which case it also might not prolong their lifespan very much).
Both previous games, as far as I remember, had one main scum faction and one secondary scum faction. The first game had the Libby-controlled serial killers, and then Chelsea. The second game had the Ryganaavlanik, and then the demon. If this game follows a similar pattern, then fairies are likely to be the secondary scum faction.
Of course, since when has Alicorn followed a consistent pattern with these games? Maybe we get Changeling as a fairy and she’s actually Town. Maybe there are two Town factions instead of two Scum factions somehow.
Also, since the reason we are not revealing True Names in the first place is a suspected faerie cult, this would just result in the scum having two doctors P:
If this actually pans out, it seems that the only good position from which to counterclaim doctor would be e.g. a dwindled cop who knows the claimee is lying.
If there were two doctors, Player A and Player B, and they claim, then every single night, Player A protects player B, and player B protects player A, and neither can die (unless, as you suggest, more than one killer attacks the same player, but that is hard to co-ordinate).
How would two town factions work?
pedit: I think nobody should claim anythinig at all at this juncture. If you look like you’re about to be lynched and you have a cool role then yeah, claim utility not name. Maybe someone should delazy and do an unofficial votecount and quote the countdown timer so we can see who that is and have time to repile onto somebody else if neccessary. People can lie though so we should look for signs of that and not just take everyone at their word. But we should also try not lynch a power role just because they could be lying. Depends a lot on how they claim it and what they say, depends on if anyone can counter (we had a mafia doctor last game for the record), depends on a host of things. If they’re telling the truth, they may get night killed. if they don’t get nightkilled, once they’re outed they need to claim results and use that to create a town voting bloc if possible.
But the best case scenario is that nobody claims prematurely.
Two mutually exclusive town factions? I'm not sure how credibly that could be called "town", though I expect Alicorn would be able to pull it off; my stated win condition(currently/to my knowledge/etc.) is killing all "scum", so I suppose groups of Blues and Greens which don't see eye to eye is not out of the question.
ETA: yes, definitely not helpful without further developments, I was addressing the future possibility of someone else already having claimed doctor.
It is almost always a bad idea for Town to lie. Whatever gambit the lie is part of has a large chance of backfiring. Modrony lied with the list posts last game, instead of restating Alphabeta’s fears in a less antagonistic/lazy way; this might have cost Town the game.
Do not lie as Town. If you catch somebody lying, you should strongly consider voting them. Lies add confusion which helps scum.
In your example, the cop could say “no you’re not; I know because I am a cop”.
I don’t know exactly how two town factions could work. I had mechanics in mind when I said it (a cult labeled “town” instead of “scum”, needing to convert all the other town before the last scum died), but I don’t think that would actually work. I expect Alicorn and Nemo could pull something off, though.
In one game I saw, a townie pretended to be a jailkeeper and he was counterclaimed by the real jailkeeper. They lynched the real jailkeeper because people believed the first guy. then the next day, they realised he had lied so they lynched him. and that was game over. (were you in that game, pistachi0n? it was the game that was over in 7 pages because someone lolhammered on page 1).
Leave lying to the scum. I’ve seen gambits go wrong too many times.
