Elder Sign ($5 Unique Item): Any Phase: Whenever you could make a Fight or Lore check to close a gate, you may instead spend 1 Stamina and 1 Sanity and remove this card from the game. If you do, close and immediately seal that gate, and remove 1 doom token from the Ancient One's doom track.
Bind Monster (Magical Spell, 2 Hands): Casting Modifier: +4, Sanity Cost: 2, Any Phase: Cast and discard this spell to pass one Combat check. You must roll successes equal to the monster's toughness to cast this spell. This spell doesn't work on Ancient Ones.

...well, I was really hoping someone who knew the game better than I do would answer Aestrix's question about tactics...but I'm pretty sure I don't actually want to attempt to sneak/fight my way past five monsters right now, so I'll just move to Rivertown (the non-stupid way, Northside-Downtown-Easttown-Rivertown), which should allow me to get to any of the current gates next turn.

I was hoping *I* would answer Aestrix's question about tactics, but I can't seem to make my brain think about it all enough to write up anything. Here's what I get after I jog it a bit (maybe it's more helpful than nothing): I am kindof concerned about the number of monsters wandering our streets, but they're really unfortunately clumped up, so I'm not sure what to *do* about them. We should probably make an effort to pick off singlets so that they don't join the pack and overwhelm us. If any of us ever get sufficient firepower to take out the clump, that would be good, but it's not highest priority. As for who seals what - whoever among those of us with sealing abilities that can get to it quickest? I agree that we should try to seal the more commonly-opening gates, but I also think we should pretty much jump in the nearest ones and get them sealed as quickly as possible. What we *need*? Umm. Tommy guns, dynamite, elder signs, the patrol wagon, Blessed statuses would all be handy, though probably not *necessary*.

My plan for my movement, as stated earlier is: I'll go to the Black Cave to get those two clues, and while I'm there I'll read through my Ancient Tome and my Cabala of Saboth (if either fails, I'll accept it and not spend clues/research).

  • 2+) Searching the body you find something interesting. Draw 1 Common Item.
