Actually, I'm kindof curious why that's the case - if the Matilda and Sherlock templates canonically instantiate as books, what's the problem with having others do similar?

I really really dislike canon puncturing. It's essential to how kappa works with Matildas, so when it turned out that we'd had different expectations about it I compromised that far; the way Sherlocks work actually doesn't bother me to the extent they work this way in Effulgence, though I've seen kappa go further with it in other works here and there.

Huh, I wouldn't have considered it canon puncturing, since the non-book instantiations of the template don't know that they themselves are fictional, just that sometimes, when their template can't easily show up as a real person, they show up as a story instead. Unless, say, Glass were to see a book and be like "Aha, this book is actually the template paragon and thus in a way is more real than any of us people are". But Glass can't see metacausality around objects, so that shouldn't be a risk. So if I'd found out outside of this conversational context that you dislike canon puncturing, I'm not sure I would have guessed that it would apply to this. Interesting to know that it does!

the play. the joker antiochus' daughter and prince belicles would rescue him unlike in the original play and then they would both flee the city. They would go sail to Tarsus to help with the famine and meet other templates.

Should we create a separated thread for non-fandom ideas?

I was wondering what could be interesting for a template, like (random example) a Black Widow one? Someone with a dark past that is great at manipulation? I am sure want to see them interacting with Sherlock (the sexual tension!!!)
Sorry for my bad english

The canon is broad enough on the forms of insanity that tainted saidin gives you that pretty much anything which might cause a non-trivial number of people to think/say "that's crazy" would count. They do tend to be destructive/negative (paranoia instead of suicidal bravery, though the latter is an effect that can temporarily happen after untrained channeling *in general* and is part of the reason for the 1/4 survival rate) but one example is a kid (15-ish) who reverts to being mentally about 5 years old and enjoys playing with blocks (even if they are actually rocks that out-mass him and he has to pull them out of nearby walls with the Power). It is entirely believable that a Joker would "lose" something that they had no use for anyhow and therefore be unaffected. It's also possible that they wouldn't manifest symptoms before being found and cured; some people last for years.

Removing an a'dam (channeler leash) is supposed to be impossible - your muscles will knot up and stop obeying your brain, first - as well as incredibly unpleasant to attempt. If anybody could manage it though, I'd believe a Joker could. That's leaving aside freecasting (various forms of magical portal Travel are canonical, but you can't channel while wearing an a'dam unless the holder of the leash wants you to). The "it kills you if you can channel the other half of the power from what it's made for" part would probably just be ignored, I guess?

I feel like I should just stop hoping for this one, because the canon is *huge* and even though I read extremely fast it takes me over a month to re-read the series if I leave enough time in the day for any kind of actually having a life (not to mention sleeping). But it *really* would be fun to see. There's even room for alts of Aurum shapeshifters; "Wolfbrothers" are humans who can talk to wolves and can become dreamworld-wolves. It also has canonical alternate universes ("the lines of 'if'"), complete with artifacts for exploring them (and which a luminous Bella could do all sorts of things with).

Actually, I'd really like to see a rational version of the WoTverse in general, and canon!Rand could do with a heavy dose of luminosity (either before or after he goes insane). Not that this really has anything to do with Effulgence per se, but it's a thing I'd like to see. Hmm... have a male Bell as the Dragon Reborn, rather than a female Bell as a powerful Aes Sedai?

Even if they just take the things we've listed here and make something new without reading the source canon, I will be happy.
