Effulgence Fandom Ideas

A couple that I thought of last night:

• The High Crusade seems like it has massive potential as a story-a-Bell-would-be-highly-entertaining-in. It's been long enough since I read it that I'm having trouble visualizing the details, but the general idea of a medieval Bell landing on a hostile alien planet just has so many potential avenues to hilarity that it seemed worth bringing up.
• Artemis fowl's world seems like one which a mentally-opaque Bell could be very interesting in, too; it combines the traits of "world which could use some fixing" and "world which a Bell would be offended enough by that she'd be extremely determined to fix it", with all the mind-wiping and withholding-of-amazing-technology and so on that the fairies do.

...What on Earth is the High Crusade? It sounds extremely intriguing.

I can't remember the details well enough to do an indepth explanation, but the extremely short version that a mix of English knights and villagers take over an alien scout ship, try to take it to France to win the Hundred Years War, but instead get autopiloted to the nearest colony of the aliens who'd previously owned the scout ship, who are understandably upset. There are probably a few important bits on the relevant Wikipedia page that I didn't think to put in my summary, but that's the way I'd summarize it.

Stargate: Not everyone in Stargate is military per se, but even the qualifications of Daniel Jackson are kind of off-script for a Bell, so yeah, this would be hard unless we made her an alien, and even then it'd be annoying to have to write all the Approximately Realistic Air Force contents. I also haven't finished SG1 (and have given up on Atlantis and Universe).

I've never heard of High Crusade. It sounds a little like a backwards Get Medieval. Get Medieval actually has great potential, come to think of it - loosely slot in a Bell as Neithe, Edward as Asher, Libby as Torquel, I guess given the proclivities of Libbies there probably wouldn't be both an Iroth and an Asher but Iroth is skippable... First comic, for reference.

Artemis Fowl has potential in theory but I just plain didn't like the series that much; it does not inspire the stealin' hat.

Wait, has no one suggested Sailor Moon yet? I forget. Well, whether they have or not, I'm gonna suggest it now. I mean, I know you guys already did Nanoha, and are gonna do PMMM, so you've got plenty of Magical Girl action already, and Sailor Moon is kindof old and hokey at this point, but.... Sailor Moon!

Bell = Sailor Moon
Sherlock or Virginia = Sailor Mercury
Tony or Darcy = Sailor Jupiter
Sherlock or Libby = Sailor Mars
Libby or Joker = Sailor V/Venus
Cricket = Luna

As for the outer senshi, that's a bit tougher... Joker might be a good Saturn. Libby might make a good Neptune if she doesn't end up part of the inner senshi. Not sure who would be a good Uranus. I'd make Chris a Pluto, but it doesn't really jive with the geneological situations, so I donno about that.

Another idea is that the Joker could fit very well as pretty much just about ANY of the major villains, up to and including Sailor Galaxia. If the Joker were the Saturn, though, then they could also be Mistress 9. But then you'd need a ChibiBell... Maybe the ChibiBell could be an Elspeth, since the whole brainwashed-separation-from-her-parents was a thing, and Tuxedo Kamen is boring and Sailor Moon-focused enough to be an Edward. But then we run into a problem with the Libby situation, since Edwards are supposed to be children of Libbies. Hrrrm. Still, if ChibiBell were an Elspeth, then Jacob could be Helios and he'd still be a shapeshifter, albeit not a wolf.

Sailor Moon has its entertaining moments, but I am not nearly interested enough in collecting enough lore to do a proper AU of it. It's really long and large swaths of it are also really stupid.

Yeah, that is sadly very true of Sailor Moon, and I haven't found a good abridged version yet. Oh well, maybe the reboot will fix it!

I'd like to see how bell reacts to a non-bellish utopia like Culture where people do not need to die but decide to.

Also a major downside to effulging Sailor Moon is that Sailor Moon would not then be available in-universe in Effulgence as an iconic defining example of the magical girl genre. XD
