This is a thread for asking questions or making hypotheses about how characters would respond to different situations, to gain a further understanding of who they are as a person.

For example, I hypothesise that if there was a Joker who was a cat, not the way Trouble can sometimes be a cat, but a Joker who was born a cat and remains a cat full time, the cat would like water and swimming. (Some cats do anyway, one of mine does, but I think Joker kitten would like the experience of the water even if it was unpleasant, or would find the unpleasantness of the water to be pleasing. whereas I'm fairly certain that my cat just finds the water to be pleasurable)

It's possible that a kitty joker would react to water in that way; it's also possible they wouldn't. Unpleasant experiences aren't universally a draw. Sometimes it's complicated.

I've always been kinda curious how Bells would react to overt strong mind control when they aren't immune. Generally, the response to things like Chelsea or similar things has been for the Bell in question be immune by whatever mechanisms that universe works. But what if you put an un-immune Bell against a Chelsea? Or something more insidious a la, say, Mass Effect-style indoctrination or anything that tries to revamp her priority systems? Would she notice and try to break it? Would she notice and not _want_ to break it? Would she not notice? Obviously some of this depends on the method of mind control and what it's doing; we've seen a Bell perfectly happy with the mate bond, for instance, which is definitely a form of mind-affecting magic/mind control. But if you try to Chelsea her or something else, would her innate self-knowledge predilections and abilities allow her to notice and overcome such things? Even if she's specifically motivated against noticing; i.e. made to like the changes that have been wrought? I don't think there's been an instance with a Bell subjected to such things, yet.

I anticipate that this mind control would cause a similar level of distress as Sarion felt before her mate bond was fixed.

@Kappa: even my cat, who regularly gets soaking wet because he was playing in his water bowl, vastly prefers to be 100% in control of his interactions with water (and thus far there has been no reason for that to not be the case). Usually, he asks me to turn the faucet on, I do, he plays. If it gets deeper than he likes, he jumps out. If he is done playing, he jumps out. If I am taking a bath, he will sometimes dip a paw into the water and bat at my hair and splash or try to rescue my hands if he feels they are in danger of drowning. He enjoys himself thoroughly, but his body language makes it clear that his bodily autonomy is even more important to him in this situation than in other situations. I know without having ever tested it that he would rend me with his claws if I tried to snuggle him in the bathtub. I do not wish to test it anyway; if I were to frighten him while he was in the water he might develop a bad association with it and stop playing so cutely in the water and he would lose the enjoyment he currently feels and that would be sad.

So far I haven't had the opportunity to put a Bell and a Chelsea with powers who the Bell isn't immune to in the same universe. Both templates are very attached to their powers when there's "person gets a power" magic available, and a defensive power that doesn't work against offensive powers from that same universe isn't worth squat. I don't know anything about the Mass Effect thing you mention. The exact Bell reaction (beyond "as negative as possible given mind control") would depend a lot on the fine details.

Would Chelsea become a redmage (from Goldmage)?

What templates fit the existing colormages (I suppose bell would be a new color with the proper power)

There's no in-universe guarantee in Goldmage that you'll get a magic color that suits you. Certainly a Chelsea would prefer to be a redmage over any other kind, but that wouldn't give her a better shot at it. It's all random.
