Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
At the moment, I'm basically just doing whatever Innocent!Tulip would do. Her current state of mind is "there's way too little evidence to convincingly point to anyone, but we have to vote for someone, so I'm going to jump on the least bad bandwagon which actually has a chance of going through". Which, from what I can tell, is what most of the other townies voting for him are thinking too at this point, so if anything I'll get towncred for being the first one to go ahead and publicly state that as my reason.

Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
Modrony actually said she didn't think tau was guilty but was voting for him because other people were. Despite having this big thing about not wanting to be influenced by other's votes. If I were town I'd be so suspicious of her, one of us could probably make that case tomorrow.
Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
fair enough
bah. if i unvote PDV now i'll look like i'm trying to avoid the consequences of "scum killing him" (i saw a game once where there was a player with an ability that when they died the mod said how many scum were on the wagon)
if i don't unvote him, he may actually have that ability.
bah.
well at least kappa's doing the rolefishing for us to find out about that.
preview edit: yeah, i found that suspicious of modrony too. sheeping is bad. i don't think the town realises how much it plays into our hands. we can use it to make townies appear more guilty or make ourselves appear more innocent. they can use it to magnify each other's bad opinions.

Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
I kind of want this to go to THE COIN.
I got the impression PDV was only talking about nightkills.

Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
i hope so. this might be our one chance to get him lynched. but if we all obviously pile onto him now that wont be good either.
Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
this is so hilarious.
Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
@Tamien: I found a flaw in the randomised lists in case you want to use it later for real as a townsperson:
it's really hard to move someone away from either end of the list, so whoever gets randomly put at either end is in a little trouble. suppose after randomisation it looks like:
abcdef
a does something towny: bacdef
c does something towny: badcef
b does something scummy: badcef
b does something towny: abdcef
a does somethign towny: badcef
it's crabs in the bucket at both ends. whoever starts at the very end on both sides, you end up with a group of about 3 that are cycling through each other and have trouble reaching the middle. i noticed this mainly because the randomiser put pistachi0n at the scummy end and she's pretty much stayed there the whole time even though i don't thinks she's been much scummier than the rest of us. sometimes pdv does somethign suspicious and displaces her but then she displaces him and they just kind of shuffle. also lurkers tend to fall towards the scummy end just by people displacing them.
a better system might be to use number and increment the number each time. so everyone starts at 0, and then for every good post they +1 and for every bad post they get -1 and then everyone's position is only dependent on their own actions, not the actions of others.

Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
As a townie, I do not start with a randomized list, I start with a list ordered mostly by gut feelings (and as mafia, I do not start with a randomized list, I start with a list made of LIES). I just said it was randomized so people wouldn't think too hard about any orderings they found weird :P
Also, I sometimes move people up or down several ranks at once because I'm doing like... sequential pairwise comparisons of scumminess? So when someone changes rank, I compare them to the next person up on the list, and then the person after that, and so on, until I get to someone that they don't feel scummier than. This probably makes the ends somewhat less sticky than they normally would be. Still, the number incrementing thing might be a good idea in the future? I may give it a shot.
The stickiness of the ends is actually exactly why PDV got stuck as most suspect even though he did like, one moderately suspicious thing, and I was well aware of this, so I found it really amusing when everyone else jumped on that bandwagon :P

Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
even if it's originally based on something, the stickiness can bias it to your early reads. i think because i'm being mafia this game i'm just sticking to incrementing by one so i'm probably experiencing a lot more stickiness than you. i think sequential pairings makes a lot more sense.
original randomisation with me attached to one end:
'pistachi0n', 'michael', 'kappa', 'modrony', 'pdv', 'Alphabeta', 'tulip', 'bss', 'wolffreak', 'mtc', 'tamien', 'futurevision', 'Anthusiasm', 'tau', 'jalapeno', 'paradox', 'shoal'
my current "suspicion list" after doing 1 increment (up or down) for each post in the entire thread (with the rule that i don't increment anyone above me of course):
pistachi0n, pdv, futurevision, michael, Alphabeta, tau, wolffreak, paradox, tulip, tamien, modrony, Anthusiasm, kappa, mtc, bss, jalapeno, shoal
pdv fell largely due to inactivity i think --kappa and modrony quickly were helpful enough to surpass him. futurevision & michael same. pistachi0n mostly stayed so low because she was publicaly agreeing with the list idea which is of course furthering our wincondition as mafia not the other way around.
i can't really access what town me would think of us, but a more honest ordering of what town me thinks about the town:
tau, futurevision, michael, paradox, pdv [cute newbies: Anthusiasm], [helpful people: kappa, modrony], [roleclaims: wolf, mtc, alphabeta, bss]

Re: Day 2 Spam: SPAM HARDER
yeah, that's fair. i may try both methods next game to see which one i like the results of better.
your list looks fine, except for pistachi0n being stuck at the top - maybe just count anything she does as trustworthy for a while? we want her to be suspicious, but we don't want to lose her any time *soon* - and i worry that both of us trusting jalapeno so highly will look suspect if one of us dies. i think i'll try to find him more suspicious next time i post my list (this shouldn't be that hard; i imagine i can plausibly let a roleclaim bump him from the most-trusted slot).
