An observation I just had:

Last game, the mods sometimes cut a night short. This time, the mods have expressed an intention not to do that.

I believe it's traditional in IRL mafia games, although I have never played an online one so I don't know how it transfers, that the private communication channel available to the mafia is only active during the night.

Even if not, it seems like killers with a private communication channel might get more benefit out of a guaranteed night length than killers without.

So the guaranteed night length in this game might represent evidence that we are more likely to have an actual mafia or mafia-like thing rather than last game's cult/SK combo.

Also, let's have the countdown box again:

I agree that spreadsheets are cool. I just made a text document.
I think we should try to reserve some time to discussion and there are some people doing this already.
Hopefully we have more people tomorrow.
I am going to kick us off. Please, if you don't have a candidate in mind; don't open the spoiler before you do.
Solid candidates aren't necessarily needed. If you suspect someone even a bit without being told to, that is already better than random chance. It is perfectly alright to qualify a suspicion as low confidence.

Also note that you aren't committing to a vote by presenting your candidate. The purpose is to see if any trends emerge and to discuss.
If no trends emerge, we should probably go back to voting for Aesterix.

Please don't present candidates you didn't come to on your own volition. We don't want any false positives.
my 2cents
my choice: pistachi0n
"It's only after death that we find out which one of their speculations was their actual power, and what can the mafia do about it then? Kill them even more?"
I feel they are way too confident about the lists being perfectly non-informative.
Also voting for no lynch is the safest choice next to wagoning Aesterix.
I do confess that this is my revised opinion and not the one I first wrote down. Upon reading the thread again, this time without being distracted, I was unable to understand my first choice.

I am also suspicious of wolffreak567 for only having a single post.
He gets some slack for being new but BSS did say: "This one actually plays online mafia a fair amount!" so it's not inconceivable that he requested a scum role.

Rereading the beginning of the thread to determine my most suspicious person. I've been travelling a lot recently, so I haven't been as active as I'd like, but I will try to get out my list of characters and powers soon. Might not happen before the second day though, so I'll just apologize for that now.

Having reread the Elcenia magic-types pages, does anyone thing we will be seeing magery, sorcery, or merfolk magic?

They didn't really strike me as suitable for turning into mafia powers when I was reading over the magic pages but it's possible Alicorn managed to cone up with something, I guess.

Can I change my vote to no lynch? If I can I would like to but I didn't realize that was an option.

@wolffreak all you have to do to change your vote is write "no lynch" in bold!

Here are my suspicions. I still think RNGs are a better bet on the first day than going off of intuition because we have so little information, so I'm not going to commit to voting on mine, but if, at the end of the day, we've decided that Aestrix is almost certainly innocent, this is who I'll switch to: (having difficulties with the spoiler box so they're just in regular blocked-out spoiler form): Shoal is suspicious because they jumped on PDV even though we have almost no information to go on. Also DanielH is suspicious because he hasn't been participating as he was at this point last game, but I don't find him as suspicious as Shoal.

I feel like people keep confusing me for other people. Last game and now here too. -.-

Just to be clear, I did not vote for PDV, nor did I even mention them in any of my posts this game until now. I voted for Aestrix because the RNG produced her number, but I'll withdraw my vote for Aestrix since we've come up with a better system.

Well, I was going to save this another half-day, but we're apparently revealing our written-down suspicions now, so I guess I'm going to do that too so I can look at everyone else's without getting contaminated at all.
Who I suspect
From what I saw, Alphabeta was by far the most overtly suspicious of all of us. Where the vast majority of people took no suspicious actions I could see, Alphabeta has repeatedly refused to involve himself in any of the town-beneficial day-one tactics we came up with:

• Back when it was the best idea we'd had, he refused to join in the RNG vote.
• He refused to join in Kappa's power-revealing plan.
• He voted for Kappa, who is the main person spearheading the town's push to use the best tactics we can collectively think of.
• And, in voting for Kappa publicly, he also blew his ability to join in the town's anti-idea-contamination campaign.

I'd probably write off any one of those things on its own as just a non-suspicious personal preference, but put together into a list like that? It paints a pretty clear picture of non-compatibility with the town's goals. It's actually a much stronger cluster of evidence than I expected to pick up on day one.
