Not the kind with cardstock and pawns. Mostly play by post Mafia so far.

(I think it makes sense to start a new one of these each day, to keep things more manageable. I have edited the title of the targeting thread to do this as well.)

So, we have 3 things to decide in addition to our target:

1. Who I assign the kill to.
2. Who Oris/pistachi0n protects.
3. Who Azef/Tamien investigates.

For 1, it seems obvious to me that we shouldn't risk anyone with a power. (I can imagine some situations later in which we might want to risk Mekath, but we're not there yet.) That leaves me, Shoal, and Aestrix. My inclination is to send myself, because I'm the only one I can trust not to be a traitor. The downside of that is that if I die the traitor comes 1 step closer to becoming Mafia Leader, which could be catastrophic. (This is only true for Shoal if the traitor is Aestrix, Tulip, or pistachi0n, and only true for Aestrix if the traitor is Tulip or pistachi0n.)

For 2, again, my gut feeling is to have pistachi0n protect me, but I can see arguments for protecting people with powers (Tamien or Tulip) (EDIT: just Tamien, duh).

No clue for 3. Probably it should be one of the good players last game besides the one we plan to kill (alphabeta, maybe?).

I'm planning on protecting you tonight and in future nights unless a) There is extreme suspicion on someone else or b) it's time for me to die, in which case I'll protect Tulip.

Oops, duh, you obviously shouldn't protect Tulip until you're ready to die. Might be worth protecting Tamien at some point if we want to pass her off as a Town!Investigator.

Yeah, if Tamien has to claim I'll protect her, I don't expect that will be for a few days though.

Obviously 24 hours haven't even passed, but as of right now I can't imagine the need to protect anyone other than you or Aestrix tonight. There were a few people who were suspicious of BSS last game after she didn't die at night, but then we all got distracted by AndaisQ.

If there are still enough people voting for Aestrix at the end of today, I might protect her from lynching. But since you're the only one who I know is not the traitor, and your death could put the kills in the traitor's hand, you're my default protection target.

To be clear, you can't actually use your power for the first time until tonight, so you can't actually protect Aestrix from a Day 1 lynch, as per here, right?

Correct. It's a night action. I also PM'd the mods with that same question right after I got my role and they confirmed it. So no, I can't protect Aestrix today, but I suspect that after her message there will be enough fickleness in the crowd that she won't get lynched.

Yeah, I hope so!

(I also wish the game had started with a night instead of a day, as I think some people were talking about last game. That way there'd be actual information to act on. And it doesn't really benefit the Mafia that much because someone from Town will probably get killed Day 1 anyway.)

At this point, I don't think Aestrix is likely to get lynched. Unless anyone thinks they'll be on the hot spot tomorrow, I'm going to protect her. She was in the spotlight today, so I'm worried an investigative role will target her at night and out her as mafia tomorrow.

Not much in the way of thoughts on it yet - I kinda feel like we should probably take out Kappa sooner rather than later (they are kindof really good at mobilizing townies so far), but I don't think tonight is the night? I'm fine with DanielH for tonight.

Anyone have suggestions for who I should investigate?
