Some of you noticed that there was not, technically, a mafia. There were three killers, who did not know each other and could totally even have killed each other but somehow never did. (We were super lucky. By we I mean THE GODS who cackle at your suffering.) One was released each night by Libby, who knew that she was choosing from the Joker, Voice, and Chainsaw, but not their identities, and had to decide who to let out based on who they killed. The killers did not know why they were only allowed out of the house on some nights.
But there was an informed minority - the circle of friendship. Chelsea could target one person per night and befriend them, changing their win condition and bringing them into the fold; a twice-befriended person gained access to a private communication channel.
The other powers in play were Addy, who could poke people and then immediately use powers if they had them; Chainsaw who could block one person per night from taking any night actions; Tony who could have the roleclaim I am Iron Man mod-confirmed at any time; Chris who protected Libby from all forms of death; Sherlock who could find the faction affiliation of one person per night, and also served as Tony's bodyguard; Voice who could steal votes; Bell who (uninformedly) voted double and was immune to both Chelsea and Chainsaw; and the Joker whose unusual trait did not come into play but would have changed faction to Town if ever killers had equaled or exceeded the number of non-cult townies, yet would have kept his night kill.
The bodyguards could have failed with appropriate Chainsaw blockage. In this instance, Chris would have been free to switch targets to anyone else; Sherlock surviving Tony's death would have had a shortlist (consisting of Bell, Libby, a vigilante-turned Joker, or, if the Sherlock were befriended, Chelsea and Chelsea alone). A bereft Sherlock with no acceptable bodyguarding targets would instead have won only if dead before the end of the game.
SO HERE'S HOW THIS ALL WENT DOWN. Nighttime order of operations is 0 - Libby, 1 - Chainsaw's roleblock, 2 - Addy's poke, 3 - Sherlock's investigation, 4 - Chelsea's befriending, 5 - night kill.
Day One you lynched no one. At night, Libby let the Joker out, Chainsaw blocked modrony but modrony wasn't doing anything, Addy poked BlueSkySprite (Bell) and learned her powers, Sherlock investigated her own Tony just to make sure we weren't TOTAL bastards, Chelsea befriended Shoal, and the Joker killed modrony (Hilary).
Day Two, you lynched AndaisQ (Charlie). At night, Libby let Voice out, Chainsaw tried to block Addy but Addy still had Bell's immunity, Addy poked michaelblume (Chris) and immediately protected same, Sherlock investigated Aestrix, Chelsea refriended Shoal, and Voice killed Tulip (Janine).
Day Three you tried to lynch michaelblume but he was protected. At night, Libby let the Joker out, Chainsaw blocked DanielH, Addy poked DanielH (Chelsea) and immediately befriended same, Sherlock investigated Alphabeta, Chelsea tried to befriend pistachi0n but was paralyzed, and the Joker killed PlainDealingVillain.
Day Four you lynched futurevision (Ike). At night, Libby let Chainsaw out, Chainsaw blocked Ozy but Ozy wasn't doing anything, Addy re-friended DanielH and gained access to Chelsea's secret communication channel with Shoal, Sherlock investigated DanielH, Chelsea friended pistachi0n for the first time and didn't understand why they were not in the private communication channel after that, and Chainsaw tried to kill kuuskytkolme (Tony) but was interrupted by a bodyguarding Sherlock - leaving Sherlock unable to share her conclusions and Tony alive and Chainsaw confused and Libby swearing never to let Chainsaw out again.
Day Five you lynched DanielH (Chelsea) when Addy pointed Chelsea out. At night, Libby let Voice out, Chainsaw blocked Addy, Addy failed to poke (and thus failed to protect) michaelblume, and tau killed michaelblume, leaving Libby without her Chris and swearing to never let Voice out again either.
Day Six you lynched no.head.chicken because Tau stole pistachi0n's vote. At night, Libby let the Joker out, Chainsaw blocked Addy again, Addy poked Aestrix but could not copy her (purely social) power even if it weren't for Chainsaw's block, and the Joker killed Addy anyway.
Day Seven you lynched tau (Voice), PRAISE BE THE GLORIOUS COIN, despite his votesteal. At night, Libby released the Joker, Chainsaw tried to block kuuskytkolme (Tony) but Tony gets no night actions, and the Joker killed Aestrix.
Day Eight you lynched jalapeno_dude (Chainsaw). At night, there was no Libby to restrain the killers, but there was only one killer (had you lost Libby before getting it down to one killer, it would have gone up to two kills a night, randomly chosen if there were all three still alive). The Joker killed kuuskytkolme (Tony).
Day Nine you lynched Paradox (the Joker) and all the killers were gone. Only cult remained. But you did not know this because we are bastards.
Day Ten you lynched thatwasademo (Ivan). Nothing happened at night.
Day Eleven you lynched pistachi0n and I concluded that the cult were not going to win this one and called it.
SO HERE WE ARE.
Discussion is ongoing at the IRC channel on psigenix.net server, #mafia, accessible by web widget here, but you can now discuss the game publicly on this thread too. DanielH has been keeping logs of the dead people's conversation and I encourage him to link that. GOOD GAME, EVERYONE!
Effulgence Mafia Post Mortem
Re: Effulgence Mafia Post Mortem
Surprise! I was actually vaguely important, vaguely sinister, and cagey as hell.
I tried very hard at the beginning to hint at the killer's templates and number, but no one seemed to bite or pay attention to it, and around mid game I was in full blown panic mode and stopped trying to drop hints and instead focused on shit going down.
No one missed me (as in, there wasn't two killers released instead of the one), so while I did not get to info dump, I think I did okay.

good game everyone!
Daniel, will you could edit out people's IP addresses when they join the channel from the logs? (or just edit out joins, parts, and quits entirely as meaningless noise?)

Re: Effulgence Mafia Post Mortem
The logs are in a Google doc and the history of google docs is available, I *cannot* go back now and remove IP addresses in a way that actually hides them. It looks like Pidgin or something is also doing reverse DNS lookup on IP addresses, because I see hostnames like PSI-55571805.mibbit.com instead of IP addresses.
The doc is here. It used to be set to anybody with the link being able to edit, but now that I’m posting the link in public, I’m changing that to only being able to comment. If you want edit permission for some reason, ask and I’ll probably give it to you.

Re: Effulgence Mafia Post Mortem
That was why when the Sherlock died, not even the killer knew why.

What did she know about my power? From the wording I gathered that she knew 63 = Tony.

Yep! I was super frustrated by that. Then, later on, I thought (because of a misinterpretation of this post), that Tony was able to block my kill, which is what I said in-thread. I didn't make the Sherlock-Tony connection until I was told in deathchat.Nemo Consequentiae wrote:That was why when the Sherlock died, not even the killer knew why.

I knew you (63) were Tony but I did not know you had a power. I always put you at the top (save myself) of the non-suspicious list, though.

Re: Effulgence Mafia Post Mortem
I had a blast. I figured out pretty quickly that I didn't have any power aside from being a Named Townie like everyone else, but I'm guessing the other Named Townies had similar "no powers we're telling you about" clauses, which gave me an air of legitimacy for long enough to win. Also, nobody noticed that I mistakenly called myself Vorkosigan instead of Vorpatril. I probably won't be joining Elcenia Mafia, but that's due to lack of familiarity with the source material.
The blind mafia concept actually worked really well, aside from the fact that Chainsaw thought and claimed something really stupid was going on late game.
