Rose is not a template or appearing to free fairy!Joker.

Well, that would be too easy and we wouldn't have a way for Promise to rescue Secret and gain her eternal gratitudes and/or smoochies

I thought Promise was likely straight.

The mortal world changes a lot in a few decades; what’s the approximate decade of Rose taking fairy!Joker?

Can Rose become a vassal if her name is forgotten? If a fairy forgets a name, they no longer are that person’s master.

Forgetting doesn't work on the Joker fairy thing. Once you have been touched by freedom, that's it.

I was assuming she wasn't, or rather hoping that she is bi. I am unsure if we have an Bell/Joker/Sherlock threesome anywhere?

I dont think Rose will normally live that long, and is likely to be rescued if the peal arrives on the scene.

I can't be the only one that got some vague (and absolutely useless) desire to create fairy kind and think up powers for the different fairies types we know? >.>

Also, the Cindy/Pen not-a-sandbox problems are solved or you guys just wanted to give that a end note or something?

It’s not a sandbox…?

I’m hoping the problems are solved because I want peal time to proceed. There are at least two events (Milo meeting the Monarchs of the Enchanted Forest, and T’Mir pealing) I’m especially looking forward to that seem to be mostly stalled on peal time.

I'd like to comment on Alicorn's post on Tumblr about getting into Effulgence and I don't Tumblr so this seems like the best spot:
Okay, so the opening bits of Effulgence are not the best. I was new to the medium, I was new to doing AUs of characters, I was a greener writer in general, and me and kappa had not fallen into our most long-term-workable patterns yet. I stopped re-reading the first three sections long before I stopped re-reading the later ones. I do not blame you a bit if you try to start from 1.1 and go “who wants to read five hundred of this” and quit.
I think the very first section has got something that the more recent ones lost. Namely, Our Heroes are two people getting to know each other and — to use an overly competitive/martial/political and not quite fitting metaphor because it's what I've got — figuring out whether this strange other person can be an ally despite their differences. Whereas the later pre-pealing threads feel like they're rushing through that part, that it happens without any effort, or that they're just plain Fated By The Universe To Be Together (which, yes, they are, but not like that in most cases).

(But not-quite-orthogonally-but-not-sure-in-which-direction, I also prefer the parts where we see Our Heroes interacting with the world around them as opposed to focusing on the minutiae of the progress of their relationship, and both other readers and narration seem to frequently disagree with me on that, so.)

Yes, this is the reason I think the opening bits have some of the best Jokerbell moments. However, I don't think this is glossed over so much as rendered unnecessary, because most Jokerbell pairings start off much less antagonistically than Stella and Alice, and the ones that don't do end up needing a long trust-building period before throwing themselves into a relationship (Aether and Celo come to mind), so it feel natural that this isn't included.

(Also, gonna have to disagree with Unbitwise, the focus on the minutiae of the progress of their relationship is awesome and should continue).

I'm inclined to agree with Unbitwise, actually. There's only so many ways in which you can tell the same story, and with the same personalities involved, the relationship arc gets same-y (wasn't that part of the reason why Incandescence ended?). Personally, I find it more interesting how these characters actually interact with the worlds; stuff like taking over the afterlife and bubbleforming Saturn. The relationship is always going to be a part of any of the stories, but different worlds offer different starting conditions, and different tools with which to manipulate things. There's a lot more room to do things there, and I'd like to see more things happen in that sense.
