Plain old discussion of Alicorn stories.

Oh huh! I had thought the knighting ceremony was like, interrupted before it had a chance to work, or something. But your reading makes the "She could stay, where everyone knew just how to teach kids like her, just what temperature she thought soup should be served at, just how she'd like her hair cut, because for two hundred years, these things had all been just so, and she was just the same." line make a lot more sense. I had been kindof confused at how she was just like them when she hadn't been knighted, and was like "did she just somehow inherit a lot of familial resemblance despite not being knighted?". I think your reading is probably the correct one.

Now I'm wondering what would happen if a born Deathsbane ended up somehow being knighted incorrectly, or the knighting failed to work on them for some reason, and the family didn't notice until the kid grew up with a ~different personality~. This story begs for so much fanfiction!

Oh yeah, Moque was knighted.

Please feel free to write Sendaway fanfiction.

I want to see this effulgenced, with the Deathsbanes being Batmans.
Maybe one of the knightings didn't work cause the baby was born a Bell?

I don't currently envision the Sendaway setting as containing native opacities of the kind that Bells usually get.

Not necessarily, but not necessarily not.

I am glad someone other than me wondered about a Deathsbane Bell!

Also I am curious and terrified of what a Joker would do when confronted with a CLAN OF BATS

Doubleposting because this thought just occurred to me - Sendaway may not have native opacity, but Bells sometimes have granted opacity, right? (I'm thinking of birth blessings here and may be misremembering how they work). A more clever or magical person in Kelur Antre's situation might have tried to magically protect their child's mind. Could a Sendaway wizard magically grant an infant Deathsbane Bell mental opacity before she's knighted?

Joker vs CLAN OF BATS: ...actually I feel like this is a nonstarter, the CLAN OF BATS are mainly concerned with killing deaths rather than farting around with mere human criminals. So unless the joker in question was a sapient death, there wouldn't really be a problem.
