Re: Sandbox Discussions
I don't have the order of operations spelled out in my head, but for example Ari would have to demonstrate a capacity for reasonableness before attempting to proposition Cam.
Meeting other pairs would cause... speculation... but would not do it all by itself.
Soulgaze would depend on circumstance/exactly what they saw.
Cam would stay in touch with Ari if Ari went to Hell with him and it would certainly give them a long time to smooth over the bad first, er, second, impression, but it wouldn't be an automatic thing.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Yes, both. A Denarian is a Fallen Angel who lives in a blackened silver Denarius. (There are precisely 30 of them. One guess why.) Taking one of the coins, or even being touched by the shadow of one, puts some powerful evil mojo in you along with the intelligence that goes with it. The Denarian can, within some limits, pull a Pascal's Demon on you pretty well, even if just a shadow-copy, and there is only one known instance of the intelligence being evicted ever (again, a shadow-copy). If anyone can resist the effects, it's a Bell, but I wouldn't give them good odds.Bluelantern wrote:Thing = object or entity? Thank you anyway, I made a veeeery embarassing mistake over "priority-warping junk".AndaisQ wrote:A Denarian is a thing that gives you power and wants you to be evil. They accomplish this by inserting thoughts in your head and messing with your priorities. I feel like a Bell might be able to remain a Bell with one of them in their head, though I highly doubt they'd want one.

So we must have seconds before all hope is lost! Evacuate the ship! It is doooooomed!Alicorn wrote:I don't have the order of operations spelled out in my head, but for example Ari would have to demonstrate a capacity for reasonableness before attempting to proposition Cam.
Okay, but seriously, I might need to re-read the sandbox... but did Cam mentioned usual forms of demonic payment? I think Ari would make some remarks after finding out. Stuff to the effect of "how much do I own you for that sandwich" *wiggles eyebrows*
capacity for reasonableness entails?
Yeah, I wasnt hoping for anything more elaborate besides "should I reconsider this?" and maybe a conversation with the avaiable paired bells.Alicorn wrote:Meeting other pairs would cause... speculation... but would not do it all by itself.
tangent question: Would Cam end up (on average) more shaken than Promise?Alicorn wrote:Soulgaze would depend on circumstance/exactly what they saw.
huh, Cam might want to keep Ari around because of Ari's magical gifts, but I am unsure if that mix well with Daevintiy, for whatever reason my head keeps going "it should totally be kept" but a Wizard-Daeva sounds just unfair. I wonder what the average summoner would do if they experienced soulgazing with a Demon from another world? Assuming it is a secret demonic mind trick?Alicorn wrote:Cam would stay in touch with Ari if Ari went to Hell with him and it would certainly give them a long time to smooth over the bad first, er, second, impression, but it wouldn't be an automatic thing.

I'm pretty sure soulgazing is a thing from Ari's world.

Yes? I mean? it isn't a wizard thing? It worked in that promise sandbox. I was thinking of a Original-flavor!Ari being turned into a demon and then summoned to Cam's native world. I wouldn't be surprised if Soulgaze happened under that circunstances.BlueSkySprite wrote:I'm pretty sure soulgazing is a thing from Ari's world.

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Cam has not mentioned traditional demonic payment. Shaken-ness would depend on circumstance; Promise liked her Ari more to begin with but Cam has been warned that soulgazes exist.
Re: Sandbox Discussions
I also get the impression that Cam is in general less shakeable than Promise is. I mean, nobell would actually like soulgazing, but it seems like Cam handles surprises better than most Bells, and Promise handles them worse?

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Cam has spent a long time being comfortably indestructible; he is nervous about unexpected maybe-threats but his default expectation is that in the long run he'll be fine. Promise is immortal good and proper but can be very badly mistreated within the scope of that, so she's generally more nervous (also, you've seen her in two basic modes - "literally twelve" and "currently or recently chattel property of two consecutive rapist assholes" - whereas Cam is generally seen "comfy, recently bored, presently excited").

My thread with Nemo crossing over Scadrial with Gap has just reached a hundred posts, so I no longer feel bad about advertising its existence. This seems to be more or less the thread to advertise it in. So... consider yourself advertised to!

Is it weird that the sandboxen make me want to play Terraria?
