Solving Batman Plot

i have offers of help, and an idea.

the idea first: to get Pealtime SORT-OF moving again; in Samaria, just a few minutes after Pen went into music room, that is when the next Pealing adventure begins! so you can move Peal stuff around [to a specific point] without them worrying about Pen, because THEY [think they] *KNOW* exactly where she is.

offer of help the first: while i'm not hugely fluent in Potterdom, i used to write both poetry and lyrics [part of my senior project, lo these many years ago, was writing several songs. i got an A, so. i'd be rusty, but i could maybe be helpful? if nothing else, to bounce ideas]

the second offer of help is *specifically* about the Pen-in-Cindy's-world issues. i am, at minimum, a trained beta and semi-professional editor [the last book i edited was sort of nominated for a Hugo. i say 'sort of' because the author found out that he *MIGHT* have been nominated because of the whole 'Puppy Slate' BS that happen, and wanted to withdraw from the thing, but was told it was too late to allow the next book to take the place of his, so shrugged it off and ignored it.]
but i also write, and i might have ideas you like? specifically they are RIGHT NOW just vague thoughts of how to Counter Bane, but if you are at all interested, i could sharpen 'em for sharing. because i hope that, at minimum, my ideas might spark ideas for you. because i am STILL tied between the Pen-and-Cindy show, and the Miles-and-Mark show, for favorite :)

Jane will notice that Pen disappeared instantly. Pen doesn't have a Janegem but she does have a Kiss and Jane ate Jovah.

Ideas for how to counter Bane are welcome.

Since Pen is indestructable, have her drop some sort of bomb somewhere? (My friend (who has not read any glowfic despite my urgings) was amusingly confused by your second sentence)

An insufficiency of bombs that have Bane in range of them is not actually the problem at hand.

The problem is, I assume, that all bombs currently available with Bane in range have the rest of Gotham in range too. But couldn’t the Joker make a new bomb that was not a nuke?

Also, I would want to talk to Bane. They have a method of communicating with arbitrary individuals. It would probably be a bad idea to brainphone Bane, but it would be worth considering in some circumstances and IIRC they have not actually considered it.

They might conceivably end up discussing the idea, but they're both inclined to dismiss it pretty fast because it would reveal to him this major advantage they have that he could not otherwise possibly know about.

Lurkerforged strenuously insists that it's possible to bluff about what the brainphone is, why Bane has it, who else has it, etc. It may or may not be possible to bluff who he's talking to, but there's not a limit to how many people they can add to the list, is there? So that's only a moderate problem at worst.

I am curious about just how much information the brainphone conveys about the conversants and itself as a medium, and how obvious it is that the information it tells you is true. How hard would it be to brainphone someone who'd never heard you speak (say, Bane, but failing that for Bane-specific reasons, an arbitrary person) and convince them that you were just a voice in their head, rather than some outside person talking to them through this particular magic communication system that works this particular way?

Using the brainphone risks revealing to Bane that magic exists at all.

...this particular instance of the Joker does canonically have a history of involving paranoid schizophrenics in his schemes. And of having put them in situations where they were telling the god's-honest truth and weren't believed 'cause of course nobody believes the paranoid schizophrenic dude, and then explosions happened.

Brainphoning Bane is probably a bad idea regardless, though, you're right.
