Pealing Process

Are any Bells going to be Pealed in unusual ways?

What I mean is - most Bells are more or less in the same stage in their life cycle when they are pealed, either gearing up to take over or having relatively recently succeeded. They've usually more or less established their social network and power trajectory but haven't actually established their rule, are roughly the same age, and meet the Peal before they meet any significant number of other Bells or learn much about templates and Things.

Golden was older and more established, Shell Bell was younger and less established, Aether had been more or less forced to give up hubristic plots, and several Bells knew a Bell or two before Pealing, but I can't think of any other notable exceptions to the pattern, and none of those examples represents a huge deviation. Is the Pealing Process itself some sort of template attractor? Or are we likely to see Bells who are very old and established before Pealing? Bells who have met enough other Bells to form a Peal of their own? Baby Bells?

We were considering having Tab be dead at age six and recovered from Downside, which would have meant a much less friendly introduction of the peal to Aelise and a very unconventional pealing for Tab, but then we did the thing we did instead.

I think Sarion's pealing was kind of unusual, in that we grabbed her at a low point rather than a neutral or high point. (We sort of did that with Juliet, but hers was a busy, abrupt low point and she'd had previous interBell contact.) Pattern was also unusual since she was dead when the peal met her.

We're going to do another "Bells meet each other before pealing" arrangement with Ace and Beila mostly because we think it'll be hilarious for them to conclude that different worlds must just all have different sets of animals and be put out when everyone else matches.

Eve's going to peal interestingly - her Joker is going to find Milliways first and run into Aegis there, which, considering that Eve and her Joker aren't slated to - erm - get along, like at all, should be fun.

Loki's probably going to have an interesting time pealing because we can put her with someone who knows her circumstance-alt Yggdrasil Loki.

Katie is going to have a really interesting pealing on an interpersonal level but there's a lot of context as to why which you don't have yet.

Butterfly is going to have a fun immediate-aftermath-of-pealing on an emotional/interpersonal level.

Everybody's reactions to Clarity are going to be hilarious.

Beila == Chi, from Spirit (the Avatarverse). Account = roc_on (possibly my favorite account name in the Belltower, BTW).

Heh, I was never totally happy with her screenname so I'm glad you like it. (I may rename the world and I'm still not used to referring to her as Chi, too. Serious naming problem for that world.)

I think an interesting pealing that hasn't been done yet would be a Bell who was already very successful on her own and has been ruling for quite some time, but on a much larger magnitude than Golden - say, a Bell who's been the local God/Empress for the entirety of anyone's living memory (or, if she has succeeded at immortality in this world, for at least hundreds, if not thousands, of years).

It'd also be neat to see a pealing with a dead Bell where the Bell became a legendary historical figure before she died, sortof like Amariah's re-appearance. A Bell who achieved great deeds in the past but sadly succumbed to her mortality in time. It'd be especially interesting if there were an immortal who had been her companion while she was alive. (This actually came to me while reading about T'Mir and Lalita, and thinking how it would be sad and sweet for her to eventually die, and be remembered as both a notorious political criminal and a savior of worlds, hundreds of years after her death, with him still alive and the only one left who knew her as a person.) It might even be more interesting if instead of or in addition to said companion, she actually is alive still, but in secret.

Lastly a Pealing that I think would be super cute is something like Shell Bell who was able to go to Milliways as a child, except with more than one child Bell meeting each other and growing up together meeting each other in Milliways.

That all being said - I think Ace and Beila pealing will be hilarious. I think Clarity pealing will be adorable and I am filled with anticipation for her entire arc. I am curious about how Eve's story will go given Winter. And I fully expect that Butterfly's pealing will fill me with tons and tons of feels and it's probably the one I'm most looking forward to (yet at the same time dreading because her arc has probably been my favorite so far).

I'm pretty sure I should remember a name like Clarity, but it's eluding me (and checking the un-pealed threads did not help). Where's that handy spreadsheet link when you need it?

EDIT: Thanks for the link, I had *just* found the Roll Call myself. Huh. I am now trying to decide if I want to actually watch MLPFiM first or not (it's been recommended to me by many friends, but I've never seen more than a minute or two at a time).
