I think she goes "wow, you are Obviously Awesome and I want to be like you" to a sufficient degree that it gets her listening to him even if she's pretty well underway with the antichrist track. Plus he's sufficiently -- reassuring? -- that she feels less like she has to double down on "I'm doing the right thing and you're just trying to undermine me!!1!" as a defense mechanism.
