I am idly pondering what could be done with the Lensman universe.

(For those not familiar: rocketships-and-rayguns, purple prose, psychic powers ranging up to fully general mind-over-matter, smashing planets with other planets.)

Sandbox concept: a world with All The Types of vampires. Buffy vampires, Twilight vampires, Vampire Diaries vampires, classic Dracula vampires... None of the surrounding mythology/magic/witches etc., just the vampires themselves. All are separately secret. People who know about one type don't typically know that the other types exist. Thus you get a lot of:

*stakes* "Why didn't that work?" "Uh, dude, that's just a story." "IT WORKED ON THE LAST GUY!"

or:

"I have been observing you for months, and at last I have deduced your secret. You are ... a vampire!" "Oh no! You have found my dark secret!" "And now I must slay you!" *throws holy water* "........what are you trying to achieve here"

or:

"I have you now, fiend!" *waves cross* "Wrong kind of vampire, dude." "Oh..." *waves vervain* "Still wrong. Do all kinds of vampires look the same to you? You know that's kinda racist, right."

Twilight vampires getting offended at being mistaken for Buffy vampires! Buffy vampires being even more offended at being mistaken for Twilight vampires! People who decide to take up vampire slaying having to push around a wheelbarrow full of different vampire repellents! Someone glowfic this with me.

It might be hard for all of them to be separate secrets. I think Twivamps’ sense of smell would be good enough to find other types of vampire, for example.

However if this did manage to happen it would be great. I had previously thought it would be interesting just to have two independent masquerades going, like Twivamp and Hogwarts Wixen; I think it would be easier for just two groups to hide from each other.

Would Elcenian vampires still have religion? If so they obviously could not hide well.

Eee. I would love to glowfic a Vampire Diaries vampire because they are My Favourite type of vampire, but don't have the brain space for any glowficcing at the momemt. When I do I'll send you a message?

Does anyone want to do a Villain Protagonist thread? I have a character I'd like to try out who's a serial killer.

I have an ex-Sith Dusk kicking around in my head, but she's inclined to be picky about what sort of serial killer she hangs out with; she's trying to kick the murder habit. ^^

(Also I need to work out her background...)

Kyrian is an artist. He's also cheerful, friendly, and genuinely wants the best for the people around him. He just doesn't consider people to be inherently better off alive than dead, and cannot kick the habit of using corpses as an art supply once he starts, even if he wanted to, which he doesn't. A Kyrian can be postponed from discovering the joys of a diorama centered around an artfully arranged body and painted with the victim's own blood indefinitely, and can be rendered harmless by something like "becoming an apsel" which allows him to acquire a supply of ethically-sourced bodies, but otherwise will arrange to become his own last art project rather than be forced to give it up.

This reminds me of a certain 'bender of Kappa's. Also of Bonesaw.

...Both Bonesaw and Spider were in bad places, mentally. Bonesaw was abducted from her parents by a mass-murderer and indoctrinated, and Spider...well, was a Steven in a bad place. Kyrian isn't doing what he does because he's upset or because he has no other choice; he does it for sheer love of art and joy at beauty.
