Feanor would have reconsidered the ship burning if he'd had, like, a glass of water and a good night's sleep. It was not a well-considered decision. But I think if he'd been asked in the emotional state he was in at the time he'd say 'well, if I'd murdered thousands of people for trying to sneak into my library, I'd have it coming if they burned it down'.

Of course he would have said that.

Let me guess: End of All Things Feanor is not at all sympathetic to that argument upon hearing how the Valar claimed the Silmarils because of the thousands of people his children had murdered over them?

He doesn't think it was their real reason, they knew perfectly well the position it put the surviving kids in, and they weren't even injured parties. If, like, Eárendil or Elwing or someone had grabbed and /destroyed/ the Silmarils to stop his children from getting them back he would grudgingly admit this was a kinda reasonable thing to do.

I guess this is not the LOTR canon timeline, since in the books Gandalf had already been imprisoned by Saruman and escaped by the time the ring got to Rivendell?

Yeah I'm shifting events pre-departure of the Fellowship because I don't want the plot to go 'Eagles tell Manwë makes portals chats with other Manwë then they win'.

I agree with Ambela that her Valar are the best Valar.

Also the ring is weirdly cute along with the horrifying.

I am unsurprised by the number of my characters who would like to be friends with the ring but somewhat perplexed by Jean's insistence that he wants to be its roommate.

It seems unlikely to leave the freezer unable to close or track in mud, I guess?

Alternatively, Jean is another ring on the same hand.
