Is the intelligence issue that the other ads filtered by intelligence more, that the purples are treated worse by society and therefore malnourished/whatever other environmental effects on intelligence, or something else?

The castes have been casteing for a long time, and there is some intercaste mating to let them assortative the shit out of things. Purples have lower median intelligence. There are lots of them, so there are smart ones, but the smart ones found Fedex or Starbucks and make a billion space currency, they typically don't check the classifieds.
