Cloudpine witches indeed cannot sing safely. Juliet isn't strongly affected, she just acquired a time-sink that was incompatible with singing.

Witches can croon straight vowels, beatbox, and play instruments, yes.

If they do nonsense syllables, do things happen?

Only if the nonsense syllables mean things in other languages.

How wide is the net cast for "other languages"? It's a big multiverse, after all. (I'm now imagining some universe somewhere that contains a language composed entirely of crooned vowel sounds... XD)

I think languages that are not and have never been spoken (otherwise) within the witch's world or by the witch don't count.

I think "if they had an Alex" is too complicated a counterfactual to evaluate without threading or at least extensively discussing with coauthors about how it would have impacted things.
