Why do you guys think the mafia hasn't killed Alphabeta yet?

Honestly? Because they've had better targets available. Sherlock and Chris, recall. I'd have gone for those too, over an Addy.

The assumption that he might have a power that would hurt them? Maybe?
And that he thought that the Chris would protect him the night he revealed his role, which is probably no longer the case.

Do we think they have some way of identifying the power roles then? It would explain how they've managed to get some of the strongest roles killed but it seems kind of overpowered to give the mafia the ability to find out powers and the only template I can think or who seems like they'd be able to do that (besides Addy) is Lazarus who is extremely unlikely to be mafia.

Alphabeta wrote:So, tau, why are you publicly outing power roles for the mob/serial killers/whatever to see?
Possibly because I'm an idiot. My line of reasoning was, because Paradox went and said "hey everybody, there are additional vote shenanigans going on" that everyone would look and pay attention to this and derive what I derived (since I managed to derive it I assumed it was obvious if you were paying attention). And since it was now open information that the mafia had access to, so I might was well give people my analysis. I had purposefully been sitting on this information since I figured it out after day 4, and explicitly not mentioning it because I didn't want the mafia to know. But now that (in my mind) the mafia knew (or were going to), the cat was out of the bag and we might as well talk about it.

This seems to have been a stupid thing to do. I appear to have overestimated a) how correct I was and b) how obvious it was. It seems I shouldn't have said anything, and either waited to see if other people came to the same conclusion, or possibly only mention it when BSS died. It seems that things have been sufficiently confused now (I no longer have any idea what's going on) that I haven't really given away much information (I hope), but this was still really bad play on my part. I tried to fix it as best I could (BSS should really not roleclaim, please, we should keep our actually useful templates hidden because we seem to be running low on them and now don't have a way to protect them), but it was still a poor thing to do on my part. Sorry.

So, you're saying it was a mistake?

...I don't believe you. Kill tau.

Lazarus isn't a template in play - Alphabeta got him as a safe role call option.

Now that I think of it, I think killing the Sherlock was sheer luck, but michaelblume was definitively not. Simple logic - Alphabeta admitted he protected michaelblume from lynching because he knew through his power that michaelblume was town sided. What do you protect, your first day after getting a snazzy new power that you like and want to keep from losing? Why, the person who you got the power from, of course. If I were mafia, I'd have gone after him, too. It's the obvious choice.

We're still dealing with someone smart, but I think we have more investigation abilities than they do, considering we have Alphabeta.

It wasn't a mistake. I totally did it on purpose. I just thought I was doing a thing that everyone already knew, that is, I wasn't causing harm. I thought I was letting everyone have access to information they would already have in a little bit anyways. This was stupid. You want to kill me for it, fine.

Guys, no, if tau were mafia, he would not have said it out loud. You understand? He would have come to the same conclusion, gathered up all of the evidence, but then not have mentioned it to the rest of us. In the private chat room for mafia, yep, you betcha, in a heartbeat. Here? it just draws attention. Back off, please, and think about it.
