So most Earth Bellas shorten it because their Renée does, given that Charlie has a different (more personal) nickname?

Also, does Vivian have any opinions about Isabella calling her by name? I'm guessing they'd have had a conversation about it and then Isabella would continue and Vivian would not feel like Isabella thought of her as not a real mother, but I'm not sure.

Isabella informs Vivian she considers her her mother, not her adoptive mother, because Vivian did (admittedly non-traditionally) bring her into the world. This preemptively negates most of Vivian's concerns about what Isabella chooses to call her. Also Vivian doesn't get along particularly well with her own parents, so between herself as "distant daughter using Mama" and Isabella as "adorable daughter using given name" she prefers Isabella's version.

Er. By "interesting", I didn't mean "relationship material", I meant "this person seems to have a surprising number of characteristics I also find in myself".

That's possible true. I interpreted it in the euphamism¹ sense, but that works too.

¹ I don't think euphamism is quite the right word here, but I'm tryingbto point to how people sometimes find it difficult to straight-up say “romantically attracted”, “has a crush on”, or similar.
