I hope Timothy eventually settles on the much more sensible option of marrying Karen (I don’t think meeting the peal would be enough to make the non-1800-approved options the best suited to his goals, but I could be wrong).

I realized that might not be clear if you can’t read my mind and aren’t reading a specific one of the other elf threads. I mean they marry each other for political reasons but each extramaritally get invinvolved with (or pine over; do Karens ever start dating non-Bells on their own?) other people that society says they can’t date.

The original template member didn't pine at all; he was immediately thrown at Tony instead. There may be other characters who could serve the Tony role there.

I mean, he should have acted differently but it was not the worst possible response. I expect, mostly based on this being fiction and the authors probably driving at a certain result, that she would have kept escalating until he did something.
