The only person requiring a wand is the binder; it might be possible to have a wizard bind a Muggle in an Unbreakable Vow. That would obviously be terribly illegal because of the Statute of Secrecy, which is of course the most important thing to consider when making an Unbreakable Vow.

EDIT: It might be that the other participants need to be wizards; it might be that they need their wands on them for some reason (as it's implied they might for Apparition); it might be that the binder could learn to do it without a wand. The only person seen deliberately using a wand when we saw the Vow was the binder.

I am aware that the plot has moved beyond this point, but why didn't Minor et al have a goldmage jump back to prevent Minor from taking the Vienna summon in the first place? In addition to preventing trauma/potential legal consequences it would have given news of eggs several fewer hours in which to spread.

Probably because it doesn't qualify as disastrous enough for goldmagery.

If Minor thought the situation was urgent enought to kill for in order to get the warning out quicker, wouldn't he also think it was urgent enough to goldmage for?

Well, killing is a strictly less terrible thing with the afterlife.

So far all the situations considered goldmaging for had more than one life lost, I think.

Yeah, goldmaging involves permanently killing someone (admittedly, a fork who diverged less than a day ago, but still) whereas killing people in Revelation is kind of just portalsnaking them while giving them magic powers.

And over 2/3 of the time giving them a pretty good chance of going home, when it’s your summoner.

And goldmagery isn’t just killing the voluntary goldmage fork; it’s killing day-old forks of everybody they’ve interacted with.

"Yeah, fanfiction just sort of gets weirder and higher context the longer someone keeps the hobby and some people have been doing it a long time.

Have we checked what happens if the goldmage fork is also a summoner?
