I'm a little late in the thread, but I wanted to say I also read and enjoy EGS, and while I could sortof see how certain Effulgence characters could be placed into it, I definitely agree that there isn't really a cohesive enough worldbuilding and storyline to Effulge it. Maybe a vaguely EGS-inspired setting could be created, but it would take some effort and probably end up being only loosely EGSy.

Nevertheless, the idea of Joker!Grace is really appealing because of how a Joker would fit into a Grace - they would have been engineered and raised to be a shapeshifting superweapon, so they'd be like the 0 cluster in some ways, but they're not as overpowered as Brilliance and would be on an Earth that could potentially have have everything else necessary for a TDK that only departs from canon somewhat (probably sight magical/shapeshiftingy tweaks) so they could also be like B/C/D clusters in some ways. I'm just imagining a Joker!Grace doing Joker things and Grace things and aaaah that would be super sad and super endearing aaaaahh.

I’m not sure you’re right about Joker!Grace. It seems to me that the best way to ensure a Joker never becomes a violent terrorist is to raise them fron the start to hurt people. Brilliance and Aianon seem to be the least likely to go the TDK route..

How far are you planning to take the MCU events in the world with Darcy as Thor? The last I remember about that worlds, it had Iron Man 3 events but no farther. A perhaps-related question, the How To Read page says there’s an MCU-verse with Steve dying and fictionalized Captain America materials, but this doesn’t seem to be a threaded fact. Which world is that?

Sunnyverses as a class have the Captain-America-that-didn't-go-anywhere thing.

I haven't seen Thor 2, so I'm not going to adapt it for Effulgence unless I get around to watching it sometime.

So a Joker!Grace would pretty much just be a 0, then, and not a lettered cluster?

It's possible in principle to combine aspects of a lettered backstory with another type of Joker background, but because of the way they work, there's not much opportunity to combine them with backgrounds that don't involve parents. And giving the world a Gotham wouldn't really influence whether or not lettered-cluster aspects made it in.

Alrighty then. I will happily imagine an adamantly pacifist Joker!Grace. It suited the Grace aspect already; the Joker part was pretty much down to whether "raised in a government facility to become a weapon" trumped "father figure exists in the form of Dr. Sciuridae, who is presumably a horrible person for Joker reasons" in terms of Joker-attitude-towards-violence and I wasn't really sure how those would interact. (I haven't seen TDK anyway, so it doesn't make much difference to me. I've been having fun imagining how a Joker would go about doing Grace things: Joker!Grace doesn't understand why people wear clothes, Joker!Grace is extremely distraught in history class, Joker!Grace plagued by awful nightmares, Joker!Grace doesn't want to kill Damien, Joker!Grace thinks people will find a genderswap birthday party to be totally fun and not awkward at all, etc :D)
