Rúmil confessing his love for Bella? That's always fun.

Trying a variant form of specifying no gods, which puts them in a late–Second Age Arda of some variety? This is a world that has gods but a lot of the locals think it doesn’t, and depending on the variant Bella et al might not know right away

I am still waiting for Alicorn and Lintamande to get us all invested in one of these threads and people trying to convince Maitimo/Kib/etc they're out and get fifty pages in and then reveal it actually was a hallucination this time.

That is why I hate every reply that's just the three words "Maitimo wakes up."

I think lintamande's stopped making those.

Suddenly had a thought - wouldn't the orcs of Sauron's time (2nd/3rd age) have issues adjusting to the Orc Planet? It seems like a lot of them have gone pretty much full evil by the time the Wish folks showed up in the longest running Arda. I'm kind of curious about how that integration went.

Are you taking your picture of the orcs from the movies or from the books? I got a very different impression of the orcs in LOTR than "pretty much full evil" from my readthrough a few months ago. In the case of the orcs in Mordor it seems much more like "cowed by a master (Sauron) who they despise and are terrified of" (and I can quote some relevant passages from the books if you'd like). Honestly I think the impression from Where There's a Whip, There's a Way (lyrics here) isn't inaccurate.

Huh, having glanced through the book again, I guess you're right! Never mind, then. :P

Lintamande wrote:The court finds Cam not guilty of war crimes, murder, genocide, and conspiracy to commit war crimes; they find him guilty of conspiracy to commit genocide and of kidnapping.
This seems like an odd verdict; didn’t he do everything he conspired to do?

I thought his lawyer successfully argued that the destruction of Valinor did not constitute a war crime (because destroying Endorë would not have been, and destroying Valinor had strictly fewer civilian casualties). Presumably similar arguments were made for murder (fighting in a war doesn't usually count as murder) and genocide.
