I really like that unread links go to the last read post instead of the first unread post, thank you!

For the "distinguishing permalinks from Unread links" feature, how about making Unread be the fast forward arrow? Or maybe "New" U+1F195?

If template pages are now being used to show posts with instances of that template, can you make the template page visible to logged-out users? I thought it only had stuff that the author of that template would care about so haven’t asked before.

You know what should exist? A section on continuity pages where authors can put an "about this continuity" spiel like "How to read Effulgence" etc.

@Ezra took a look at it but I'm worried it won't be consistent across browsers and on mine at least it's actually fantastic as a "Look this post has unread things!" indicator but it's not nearly as clear that it is what I click to see the aforementioned unread things xD

I am personally not a huge fan of the new unread link icon. For one thing, it widens every line of the unread page. Also it just strikes me as ... a little bit ugly.

I liked the idea of a fast-forward arrow (like, ">>"). Or would it be possible to use the same one from the forums?

I have no idea what the rights are on the tiny orange page icon that the forums use for an unread link.

Personally I'm a fan of bullet_go and note_go . Note and new also have their merits.

The current unread icon is page_white_go , and the link icon that was previously used for unread is link .

I also like bullet_go and note_go. Either of those would make me happy.
