I'm a yes on gender rules as long as everyone declares in advance and doesn't change during the game. But can we pick which rules soon? Not just gender, the entire set. I'm basically fine with anything since the files have been shared around but do prefer a single ruleset over a Kludge (Christchurch or otherwise) with excessively arguable minutiae. I know that's the price of admission here but come on.

Okay, let's just vote on the rules. Here is my preferred ordering:

1. Aminev
2. NIUCS
3. Zamoskvoretskaya
4. Castelluccio, 5th Folio
5. Encyclopædia Britannica, 1974
6. Castelluccio, 3rd Folio
7. Stovold, 2nd Edition
8. Stovold, 3rd Edition

(I was planning to do a simple 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 point allocation and choose the ruleset with the most total points, but of course this is open for discussion too.)

I'm partial to approval voting, personally, but at this point it's probably better to just pick something.

1. Aminev
2. Zamoskvoretskaya
3. Castellucio 5th
4. NIUCS
5. Stovold 3rd
6. Britannica
7. Christchurch
8. Castellucio 3rd
9. Stovold 2nd

edit: spelling

I'm used to house-ruling out the gender rules because whenever there's a difference they tend to be pointlessly sexist. (Mainly when a player's stations form a lozenge, or if they're trying for a crest. Very likely other things as well.) But if the people it works against want to keep them, I'm not going to turn down a minor advantage.

In a two-player game, sure, but in a larger group game like this one the east/west lozenge is invaluable for forming alliances.

How do we know how long to wait for straggler votes when the ruleset that would tell us the answer is exactly what we're voting on?

I'll refrain from pointing out that this would not have been an issue if some of us had not objected to the Kludge. But the point is taken; I have Private Messaged pistachi0n and mnemosynoid. I suppose if 24 hours more pass without hearing from them I will tally the votes and start the game without them.
