Everyone should vote this turn.
If you can't decide who to vote for, the best thing is to vote for someone nobody else is voting for.
If you can't do that for some unfathomable reason, vote for me. I can take it.
Elcenia Mafia Game Thread
Re: Elcenia Mafia Game Thread
I have a list of 5 names at this point.
It's a living document for the next 12 hours after which I will publish it.

Re: Elcenia Mafia Game Thread
I don't remember my reasoning clearly anymore. I was suspicious of tau and then my reasons to be suspicious of tau were partly invalidated and then I was suspicious of PDV and then PDV made a roleclaim that looked very legit and indeed turned out to be true, and I fell back on the previous suspect.
Re: Elcenia Mafia Game Thread
I agree that this hasty scrambling at the end does us more harm than good.

Re: Elcenia Mafia Game Thread
Modrony, will you please admit that part of this is your fault? You were the one pushing for spoilering suspicions, etc. until the last day. The natural result of that was always going to be that people scrambled to roleclaim, etc, in the last day, which given that many of us are in different timezones means substantially less than 24 hours of good discussion? I understand, I think, your reasons for doing so in the first place but it's important to admit that one of its effects was this mess.modrony wrote:After this I will treat all last minute revelations as extremely suspect.
So make your arguments in time.
That kind of chaos does not benefit town!
Causing it is an anti town action!
On a (mostly) different subject: (this is less relevant now that wolffreak is dead but with DanielH gone I feel obliged to take his place as crypto-nerd) the "test" of wolffreak and MTC's communication channel was not very good. Modrony posted this link as a source of primes, but it only gives primes at most 14 digit primes, and factoring products of 14 digit primes in real time is trivial, see e.g. here. For a minimally acceptable test you'd want something that wolframalpha can't factor, i.e. at least an 80 digit composite. For real security you'd want something at least 240 digits long, but I'd settle for something where you at least need to put serious resources into cheating. (Of course it was obvious that MTC/wolffreak had a channel, but if we feel the need to test this sort of thing we should at least make it a *good* test.)
Finally: demons. Here is the relevant quote:
I'm not sure what "at range" means for the purposes of this game. The method of killing last night wasn't described, but DanielH's death the night before ("so much blood, etc.") seems like the thing that would have been short-range. I'd assume Alicorn/Nemo come up with the methods of death, not the killers (that was certainly true last game), so maybe whether the demon can jump to a new host is decided randomly? Certainly town kills, as described so far, have been very much "hands-on", but maybe if we specify in our votes that we think the person we're voting to kill is a demon we can do some sort of killing at range?Summons Chapter 16 wrote:Rhysel explained demons - possessed creatures inhabited by malevolent versions of an insubstantial race, marokel, which lived in parts of Barashi. "Incredibly dangerous," she said. "You have to kill the host, at range, or it can get into you - and if it has an animal or another person to jump to, you have to kill that, too, until you can trap it in one host and kill that. Normal marokel are harmless. They sometimes possess people, but never forcibly."

Six names are listed but only five votes are counted, there's voting shenanigans going on. It's probably the mafia since Aestrix advised us to "Pay attention to the votes".Alicorn wrote:PlainDealingVillain: 5 (Alphabeta, Paradox, Shoal, Tamien, tau, wolffreak567)
Re: Elcenia Mafia Game Thread
I guess we should look at the people who weren't on PlainDealingVillain's wagon -- someone didn't want our votes against him to succeed, probably someone who wasn't voting him.

Mods, are you by any chance going to give us any information about how demon-possession transfer works in this game?

Re: Elcenia Mafia Game Thread
Rampant speculation about how the demon works:
On mafiascum, there is a "poisoner" role. They target someone to die, but whoever they target doesn't die until the next night. The idea is that the poison takes a while to act.
Perhaps the demon is like jumping poison. It possesses someone one night. The next night, it kills whoever it's possessing and jumps to someone else. The only way to kill the demon is to lynch whoever is possessed.
Having a demon that works this way and a mafia might be why there were more deaths on night 2.
My question:
Assuming this is the case, when someone is possessed, does their win conditions changes to something like not getting lynched the day they're possessed? Or do they have no idea?

Re: Elcenia Mafia Game Thread
I will, of course take some blame. This is why I am trying to do things faster this time. 12 hours before reveal not 24. Ideally we would be done in 24 hours.jalapeno_dude wrote: Modrony, will you please admit that part of this is your fault?
Not all of it thou. The primary cause is people waiting for the last minute to make their defence.
Further, yesterday I started each phase, voting included. You guys do not need to wait for me.
And yes, the test wasn't very accurate. I am not a crypto-nerd as you put it. Merely a hobbyist.
It was probable they had a com, yes. I did feel the need to do a simple test.
I didn't think it probable that wolffreak would happen to be the sort of person that could cheat it fast.
