Speaking of glob (from a completely different thread...) has anyone here seen Adventure Time? Has it been mentioned in this thread? I am kindof curious what a Bell in an Adventure Time universe would do, since it is kindof a world in need of saving. Best candidate for a Joker is probably Marceline (complete with abusive and evil father!), though a Joker would probably respond somewhat differently than her. Though not completely differently. I'm not sure where Bell would land, though. She could possibly be Finn, or possibly Princess Bubblegum... or alternately Princess Bubblegum could be a Tony. It seems like it could work with a bit of tinkering. Any of you would have to have seen it, though, and I'm not sure you have.

I have been in a room with an Adventure Time episode once and found it kind of excruciating.

I am generally amused by Adventure Time gifsets on tumblr, but I don't like the art much and the few times I've actually seen parts of an episode I didn't like the voices either, so I'm very unlikely to ever actually watch it.

It takes watching several episodes to start to like it, and so far as I can tell it doesn't matter which episodes you watch they all have the same weirdness until you get used to it. Once you get past that it is awesome! And I have observed this effect over several people. But yeah, this is more-or-less what I expected, it is not worth it to you guys to get to that point if you're not already there.

I disagree with tau. If you find it obnoxious initially, you'll probably find that it stays pretty obnoxious even when you're used to the weirdness. (Some of the same people's other projects are less obnoxious, but I can't really recommend them either.)

I say that the obnoxiousness goes away because this was not only my personal experience, but that of several of my friends. So like, empirical evidence. This may not be the case for all people but it was the case for a sample size of, like, 4.

I'm not sure what my data adds to this, but I still find non-plotty episodes of Adventure Time kindof obnoxious, but very very much enjoy plotty episodes. I watched the show by looking at an episode list and only watching ones in which there is either Princess Bubblegum or Marceline or both, with a few exceptions, since that seemed to correlate well to plottiness and they're my favorite characters anyway.

How about a Doctor Who verse?

A Bell with time travel would be thoroughly awesome in much the same way that T'Mir is. And if she ever happens to meet the Doctor she can berate him for being insufficiently effective.

I feel like that's been suggested before, though possibly not in this thread. The 'verse doesn't hold together well enough and I have an aversion to trying to write most forms of time travel.
