I think ordinary physical defenses on the places one sleeps should be enough. Bells don't ordinarily face nervous breakdown at the thought that someone might conceivably steal and read their notebooks.

A Sherlock's sleep disorder would fit into this world nicely.

Really? I mean Sarion was actually having her mind read, constantly, which seems like it is a good deal worse than just the possibility that people in your world could read your mind.

And it's not even that there are telepaths in Inception, it's that if someone with a lot of money happens to think that you personally possess secrets they desperately want, they can hire an expensive team of people with highly specialized skills to ambush and drug you and then enter your mind, where they may or may not even actually find anything that reveals your conscious thoughts. Oh, and if they're even richer and more desperate than that, they can pursue a semi-mythical method whereby the team can attempt, dangerously and with no guarantee of success, to undertake a targeted alteration to the way you think about something.

I haven't seen Inception, but this doesn't seem nearly as bad as, like, Aether's situation. She's defended, but imperfectly.

A Narutoverse might be fun. I've read a few fanfics recently and the setting seems amenable to Nifty Things.

I never sat down to see that film properly (only in the background of another activity while it was on TV), but I thought that the dream-thingie was pretty common because there was a scene where they are in a basement-something with a dozen people "dreaming" in a obvious drug allusion... *shrug*

Would a Joker be good at the semi-mythical method?

I can't imagine the circumstances under which you could get a Joker to try to incept someone.
