The mafia may not have known who Aestrix was, or if they did know, may have voted for her to camouflage themselves. (It seems like some of the time in the wiki entry the Traitor's identity is not known to the mafia; but it seems like
all of the time in the wiki entry the Traitor is on the mafia's
side, so I don't know how much the wiki entry can be said to apply to this case.)
...hm. Aestrix claimed her win condition requires her to be alive. Aestrix is in witness protection. Witness protection is not death. I wonder if Aestrix can still win?
Argh, I should stop talking about Aestrix, I
agreed it was a distraction from our real problems...
Here's the countdown for this page

I don't think Aestrix did the witness protection thing to herself - if she had a power like that, she'd have probably gone for a "lynch me next turn" sort of gambit instead of decrying the unfairness of the RNG. The question, of course, is who did. But there's not really enough data for that - sure, we could blame whoever we don't like/think is most suspicious for Aestrix's disappearance and DanielH's death, but that seems kind of haphazard.
Then again, what else are we going to do?

I mean, if I were Aestrix and I had the power to Witness Protection myself thereby removing myself from the game, I for sure would only use it if I were clearly obviously about to die otherwise.
SOMEONE PLEASE BRING SOMETHING UP THAT ISN'T AESTRIX, I CANNOT HELP MYSELF

Reasons to care about Aestrix
a) Aestrix is a delight
b) So Mysterious
c) Are there or are there not 5 mafia members who know about eachother?
d) Is the set of people who chose to vote/not to vote for Aestrix significant in some way?
I continue to vote we talk about something else -- if we can think of something.

Until tomorrow when we post our Most Suspicious People, I'm not really sure what else to talk about, though. The most recent new interesting information is all Aestrix-related. Like, I would be somewhat inclined to try picking apart why Aestrix thought the votes were important to pay attention to, but it's not even clear whether she meant the votes last night or some future votes. I'm inclined to trust her that there is a mafia and they number five, but then again, I am generally inclined to trust Aestrix, so. Maybe that is an instinct I should be squashing for purposes of this game, but it just seems like it would be really weird for her to lie in the moments before her death. So unless she's somehow not actually dead, I think we can probably trust her on that? Then again it seems *really plausible* that the boldtext was her summoning witness protection and she really is not dead in some meaningful way. Is summoning witness protection or something like it a thing that anyone ever does in Elcenia canon?
...Also I *think* witness protection probably josses my Barashin demons idea? Probably?

I am busy (laptop conked out and I'm playing catchup) and haven't read almost any of Elcenia in most of a year, so I won't have time to make a listpost. As a reason/replacement, at least one of these things are true: I don't remember my character well enough to describe the power vaguely but usefully, my power remains relevant after my death so that I don't want it revealed prematurely, I don't have a power at all, and/or my power triggers on death so you'll know it anyway.
Unrelated: For pure fun purposes I picked a terrible chunk of days to be totally out of communication. Sunday and Monday looked so fun, and I missed it all! :(

I have actually seen a role that lets you remove yourself from the game and come back but it's in an ongoing game on another site and the player is still alive so I don't want to discuss that player or that game in particular because if anyone from that game saw our speculation here it could influence their opinion one way or the other.
But there are some roles that involve leaving the game on the wiki so I think I can point to those:
http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Commuter -- a player who leaves the game during the night and thus cannot be nightkilled or investigated by cops or protected by a doctor or anything because they're not in town. A player might only be able to do this a few times so they may have to pick which nights to do that. I would expect Aestrix to have returned by now if that were just what was going on.
The other role is not on the wiki but the player can leave the game during the day and returns later on (usually on the next day), again only being able to do it a few times.
If Aestrix had either of those roles exactly she'd be back by now, but the mods could easily have made up their own variation and so I think it is worth hoping she'll come back to us at some point but I don't know if there's anything we can do to make that happen or how likely it is.
sorry Kappa we can talk about other things now.

Posting this now as I'm going to be afk for a few hours and because things seem to be quiet.
Do
not read before forming(and ideally stating) your own suspicions!
