Phoenix's roommate will be able to sleep near her before he conceives of being able to change the sleep thing. He will probably be out of school before he conceives of being able to change the sleep thing.

But yes, if for some reason he were eternally stuck in boarding school with untrustworthy roommates, he would try to change the sleep thing eventually, and succeed at some point. The trying wouldn't be pleasant, though.

I also wondered about Princess Sherlock of the Enchanted Forest a while ago; did she trust Glass enough by the end of the first day, or was there something different about their situation or camping that let her sleep (like Tony’s presence, being surrounded by magic that liked her more than Glass, having a tent so Glass couldn’t actually see her sleeping, or something like that)? Or did she just do without sleep for the entire trip for Glass’s house to the castle?

On an unrelated note, I am imagining Lazarus and Arcane having a discussion about different ways of attempting to translate aesthetics.

I am guessing you are one of the people avoiding spoilers, but I don’t think saying that Thorn shows up in other glowfic sandboxes constitutes a spoiler by itself.

And, if I’m wrong about you avoiding spoilers: If Arcane hadn’t shown up, Thorn would have eventually sold Promise to another fairy, Yellow. Both of them rape Promise; Yellow lets Promise escape with <other glowfic author’s character> by not being good with orders. In one of the fics they get Queenscourt to absorb Thorn’s court. IIRC, Thorn’s reaction to this isn’t described, and no other potential event to change his personality is either.

I kind of like Joey despite hating him because I like the way he got her to eat the candy. I wonder if I would develop that kind of grudging respect for, say, Reggie.

I can also imagine him realizing “oh wait fairies are people too” and stop, but if he does it obviously won't be any time soon.

Was she telling the literal truth about having no name (and if so, is she actually unnamable), or was she just saying she hadn't chosen a nickname yet? If the latter, is she one of the few Jokers who actually like their given names?

The Joker fairy is nameless and unnameable. She has no given name to hate. It is currently predicted that she will end up nicknaming herself Secret (as seen in her journal's name field).

With the amount of time which is implied to have passed, “Maria” should have a lot of human vassals (who had her food, or who introduced themselves to her). Either Jeff should be commanding them through her, or she should be ordering them to tell her Jeff's real name and/or help her find somebody to kill Jeff.

If comment 37 is something along the lines of “One day Jeff finds that he is no longer able to punish her as usual, or hurt her in any way”, I will be pleased, and would offer “Maria” money (which can theoretically be repaid) to buy jellybeans (incurring no non-repayable debts in the process).
