Pomegranates can get some pretty bright reds going. I think you're safe.

To my eyes, the less saturated ones work better next to the bright purple. #7B1315 and #800517.

(I used to think that it was silly to try to give everyone a distinguishable color, but secondaries help with that not that it isn't still a problem; now I mainly want to come up with an icon to use for myself as opposed to my characters and I haven't come up with any ideas and picking colors first might help.)
