There used to be more religions before the war which you can find if you're particularly interested in boring and uninteresting and poorly documented pre-war history, and there are regional variations within the main religion, in the forms of "a myriad other gods under the major four" or "saints" or "spirits" or "demideities" and what-have-you.

Also, were
these Valar visited by Elspeth before the first elves appeared or something?
In retrospect, "there was a Bell, and explaining things to Valar seemed obviously important" makes a lot of sense.

It doesn’t sound like sufficient explanation, when others including Maitimo have tried before.

Ah, she was more persistent. That makes sense.

I mostly buy it, but Elspeth can send what, tens of thousands of years' worth of What It's Like To Be Incarnate? Mirilótë was more directed, but she's only been there for five and did also do other things.

Mirelótë was also trying to make it so that the Valar could make use of interactions with Elves who weren't her to learn things.

What is the feature of Mirelótë talking to Valar that "Elspeth blasting them with tens of thousands of years of incarnate memories" lacks?

Elspeth doesn’t do that, she tailors the curriculum. If she did that I would guess the feature was “direction”, and it’s still close to what I think the answer is. Mirelótë has controlled the curriculum more, for longer, and is probably one of the multiverse’s foremost incarnate experts on the Valar. She knows what they have trouble with more than Elspeth does, and why.
