Usually when there's something like this going on in a story (the examples that jump to mind are the first Mistborn, Fight Club, Ocean's Eleven, and Warbreaker), in retrospect things click together. This still hasn't for me, and it's bugging me because I can't figure out why not.

I find it slightly (not that much, but slightly) unbelievable that Kithabel and Cam managed to never interact.

As my earlier quote was supposed to indicate, I am loving the KOTOR GC thread. Nacha is a fun character!

If becoming Unfading is primarily a matter of mindset, why are there not more hypnotists offering the opportunity? Does it require both subjective and objective awesome or something?

I'm really enjoying the Star Wars thread, in because glowfic is full of Benevolent World Takeovers For Fun And Profit and it's a nice change to see an Evil World Takeover initiated by someone who thinks she's doing the right thing.

Hypnosis won't work. Mindset plays a role, but it can't be achieved through mind alteration; you do actually need to have done the thing you're feeling accomplished about, and you have to be the sort of person who would feel accomplished about doing it, and there's a small but non-negligible effect from what other people in your culture would also consider awesome.
