Am I correct in thinking the word “daeva” in this world is from
this concept and as such
should be pronounced /ˈdiːvə/ (DEE-vuh)? If so, how did it lose the s in the plural? If not, how should it be pronounced?
Edit: Before explicitly wondering, I assumed this was pronounced /'de:və/ (DAI-vuh). Similarly with HDM dæmons. Why do I always try to pronounce ae as a long a instead of a long e?
Edit 2: fix the link I somehow didn't notice for first edit

I don't know IPA, but I pronounce the first syllable like the word "day".

from now on, I shall call them "divas", you can't stop me! xD
I am now wondering how species interact with both and daeva and daemons, if you kill a non-daemon-compatible summoner and they become a daeva they could get a daemon?

Alicorn, that's what I did for both daeva and dæmons, but I think that the real-world word “daeva” and the HDM “dæmon” have the first syllable pronounced as the letter D. Did you get the word “daeva” from the real-world word?
Bluelantern, are you asking about killing an Asguardian-from-Edda summoner, or a panserbjørn summoner, or what?
And this is why I think we should write in IPA broad transcription. People can figure out how to pronounce something in their own dialect from that, spelling would be easier even though it's not certain given a single dialect because there are a lot more clues, and it's an existing standard. The only problems are that nobody does it now so it'd be difficult to convert (see: metric), and I could no longer read
The Dragon-King's Temple as though “ghoti” (an invented word for a certain type of joining with a Goa'uld) is pronounced
/fɪʃ/ (homophone of fish).

Yes, that is exactly what I am asking about.

The word "daeva" is derived from the real word, and I do pronounce "dae" in "daemon" and "daeva" the same way (in the "daemon" case, mostly for disambiguation).
Originally Cam was going to not get a daemon for being the wrong species but then it occurred to us that if an Inferno summoner got a daemon and then died they would probably need to keep it. So he got one. Someone who would not get a daemon by being in an HDM 'verse in the first place would not acquire the property by transitioning to daevahood.

Would panserbjørn get to keep their armor if they became daeva (or similar if you had another species with an external non-dæmon soul)? If they went to Limbo, would they get anything other than their armor (which they would keep either because it’s a part of them or because an afterlife would certainly be incomplete without it)?

I think a bear limboite would probably get their armor, and I'm divided on whether a bear daeva would keep theirs.
